Sims, who herself is married to a professional athlete, empathized with Brittany, acknowledging the criticism she receives due to her high-profile relationship.

In an interview ahead of Super Bowl LVIII, Sims defended Mahomes, stating, “I could not be more excited for her. I actually relate to her on a much smaller level. We’re both married to an athlete, and she gets a lot of crap. She gets a lot of hate, unwarranted hate.”

Sims described Mahomes as “very polarizing, but she saw it as a positive attribute. “Brittany’s a very polarizing person, which is the type of model that SI Swimsuit hires to be a rookie. That’s the point. She’s a needle-mover. She’s a mover and a shaker, she’s a disrupter and I respect it,” Sims told Sports Illustrated.
