Maxx Crosby likes to mock quarterbacks and bully them in the game to establish dominance from time to time. The case is no different when it comes to him and Patrick Mahomes. A lot of QBs run in the other direction when they see Maxx Crosby coming towards them. But Patrick Mahomes is not one of those people, and hence, keeping him under check has become a priority for the Raiders DE.

Crosby has been quite vocal and serious about Mahomes being his rival. He talked about it in a couple of episodes on a show. But the time they invited Antonio Brown was one of the most notable moments when he got to hear about the Chiefs QB from Crosby’s mouth. Now, he’s back with another take on the Super Bowl-winning QB.

The reporter asked the DE about “The Mahomes Rule.” Crosby chuckled and praised Mahomes for winning the Super Bowl and having multiple MVP awards. The act of winning an SB is reason enough for Crosby to try and put a stop to Mahomes’ dominance. The Raiders DE clarified that people think the Raiders and Crosby have an agenda towards the QB and are trying to injure him. But the truth is something else entirely.

“He knows every time I play him, every time I see him, I’m trying to ruin his day, that goes for everybody.” Said Crosby and added, “I’m on that energy every time and I know my teammates are as well. It’s not malicious or whatever. People try to say we are trying to purposefully injure, whatever, it’s a bunch of BS. We play the game the right way, we play with ill intent, we play violent and fast.”

It was Antonio Pierce who came up with the idea of the “Mahomes rules”. Pierce’s inspiration comes from the old times when the Detroit Pistons were rivals with Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls. They took it upon themselves to pick on Michael Jordan and defend him in the best way possible.

Antonio Pierce is trying to “knock off the head of the snake”

Following in Detroit Pistons’ footsteps, Antonio Pierce showed the Raiders squad the films of MJ getting beat by the Detroit Pistons to instill some confidence in the team. An interesting thing to note is that the Raiders were the last team to beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2023 regular season. Per HC Pierce, the Raiders gave all the NFL teams a “recipe” to beat the Kansas City Chiefs. Even Andy Reid thanked Pierce for that.

“We’ve got the Jordan rules and what I’m calling, from now on as long as I’m here, the Patrick Mahomes rules,” Pierce said on the podcast. “So, you remember when Jordan was going through it with the Pistons, all those guys in the ’80s; before he became Michael Jordan, Air Jordan, the Pistons used to whoop his a**.”

He further added, “Any time he came to the hole? Elbows, feeling him, love taps. We touched him. We’re in the head, mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, I’m touching you. So, I showed those guys Jordan getting his ass whupped.”

The Kansas City Chiefs practicing at the Raiders facility really made the whole Raiders squad fired up to beat the Chiefs all over again. These two teams have become sworn rivals. We got to know this from Pierce’s statement about Mahomes and his Chiefs.

“We’ve got to win the division first. We’ve got to knock off the team in red. They’ve dominated for [eight] years. We’ve got to knock off the head of the snake: 15. We’ve got to do that first,” he said.
