It’s time for the NFL Scouting combine at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The Combine began on Thursday, February 27, and will end on Sunday, March 2. All the NFL teams and their agents are in the city, trying to gauge the best player for their sides. Suddenly, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes was in the discussion for unexpected and embarrassing reasons.

Patrick Mahomes has been here before. Not on the draft stage, not in the Super Bowl spotlight—no, this was different. This was the NFL Combine, where years ago, he ran a 40-yard dash that no one thought much of at the time. But in the age of social media, nothing stays buried forever.

On the first day of the combine, Mahomes tweeted, “As the combine starts this week! All I ask is that @nflnetwork doesn’t use my 40 overlay anymore 😂😂😂” Well, not only the respect for privacy fell on deaf ears, but the quarterback was brutally trolled. NFL shared a video with the caption “Poor @PatrickMahomes😅” What did the video show?

In the video, the league showed simulated graphics of Patrick Mahomes running with the fastest 40 yard dash runner in the combine on day 1, Tennessee Volunteers LB James Pearce Jr. While the college athlete took 4:47 seconds, the NFL star paced behind at 4:80 seconds. One analyst even remarked, “Why are we doing Mahomes like this? Just because he tweeted that out?” The other analyst confirmed, “I think, partially, yeah.

The quarterback is trying to let go of the loss against the Eagles. After their 3-peat dreams were crushed, the team was left devastated. While Patrick Mahomes got emotional as he thanked his teammates for their fight, the heart-wrenching visuals of Travis Kelce walking back from the Caesars Superdome alone brought fans into pools of sorrow.

Many analysts even claimed that the TE might put a stop to his career and hang his boots. But the Chiefdom just got a surprise. It’s not happening this year.

Does Mahomes' slower 40-yard dash really matter when he's dominating on the field?

Patrick Mahomes gives a legendary message to Travis Kelce

Two sources confirmed the news of Taylor Swift’s boyfriend staying in the league. First, Chiefs GM, Brett Veach, revealed that the TE messaged him and told him he would play in the league. Moreover, the former Colts player and analyst, Pat McAfee, was the second as he revealed that Kelce was ‘fired up’ to play. The Super Bowl LIX loss left a ‘bad taste.’

As the news spread, Patrick Mahomes was on Cloud 9. He retweeted the news with a gif from the legendary docuseries ‘The Last Dance’ that showed Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan’s run in the NBA. The message is obvious. They are coming back for the crown.

The 2024 season wasn’t good for the TE. He only had 823 receiving yards, but still led the Chiefs. However, this announcement will certainly fill a new passion in the franchise to go for the trophy. Who knows, maybe it’s Kelce’s last dance.
