A sad day for the Chiefdom! This Sunday, they had their second consecutive loss to the Buffalo Bills with a score of 17-20 in a close game. Last Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs faced a miserable 27-19 defeat from the Green Bay Packers. One can decrypt that it was the team’s combined errors that led to the loss. Patrick Mahomes‘ early interception gave the Bills momentum in the first quarter. Then came in a rarely called offensive offside penalty on WR, Kadarius Toney.
Travis Kelce too contributed to the slips that kept happening during crucial moments. With this game’s result, the Chiefs re-met the 2021 fate in which the franchise lost two back-to-back matchups. Furthermore, this loss marks the fourth upset of the Red Army in the last six games. A controversial call and an almost win later, the Chiefs’ stars remain crestfallen.

The Bills almost lost their lead in a really exciting way. In the game, the major reason attributed to the team’s setback is a specific controversial call. There was a play in the fourth quarter where Patrick Mahomes threw a long pass to Travis Kelce. Kelce tried to make himself out of the Bills players, however, when he realized he wouldn’t be able to. The tight end then threw a lateral pass, throwing the ball backward to wide-open Kadarius Toney. Toney ran into the end zone, untouched, making it a fantastic touchdown. However, the official canceled it.
The reason was that Toney was positioned on the offside before the play started. So, even though it was an amazing play by Mahomes, Kelce, and Toney; it didn’t count because of this rule violation. This was a significant setback for the Chiefs, and they couldn’t recover from it. Furthermore, the Chiefs had some early problems in the game, including an early interception by Patrick Mahomes, and a missed opportunity to score.
Although, at some point, the Chiefs fought back and tied the game at 17-17. But, the Bills held their ground tightly, and won the game, keeping their playoff hopes alive with a 7-6 record so far. On the other side, the Chiefs’ defense tried their best, but it was a tough loss for the franchise in the race for the AFC’s number 1 seed.
The Bills had their momentum set and managed to secure a victory 20-17 with a late field goal in the fourth quarter. Well, Josh Allen‘s 2-touchdown game worked wonders for the AFC East Division team.
