As the NFL season approaches, analysts are already voting for their MVPs and the Super Bowl winner of the coming season. And guess what? ESPN’s football analyst Louis Riddick didn’t miss his chance to share the name of his MVP and the Lombardi winner. But what else did he say? Well, it looks like he predicted the real contract value of his top player.

On the GetUpESPN show of 28th August, Riddick said the Chiefs’ quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, will be getting massive contact this year. While praising Mahomes, the analyst also talked of what the Chiefs’ GM, Brett Veach should do, “Look you’re gonna have to pay up man, you’re got to do something with restructuring this man’s contract. And he’s gonna have one of those stupid like, you know like, one of those soccer type contract, one of those Ronaldo type contract where you know Patrick’s making a hundred million a year.” Well, this was not the first type Riddick opened about Mahomes.

As per the analyst’s X post from July this year, the QB was on his way to getting an ‘infinity’ dollar contract this year. And what else did the analyst say on the GetUpESPN episode? He emphasized that Mahomes will be winning the MVP trophy and will also take the Chiefs to a “rarefied level” in the coming season. Well, it looks like the comparison was similar to what Cristiano Ronaldo did for Al-Nassr after he joined the team with a $100 million contract in 2022.

The 2022–23 season marked Al-Nassr’s 47th consecutive year at the top of Saudi football leaderboards and their 67th year as a football club. During this season, he scored 65 goals and provided 16 assists, ending the season on a high note. Meanwhile, Patrick’s Chiefs finished the 2022 regular season with a 14-3 record, a significant improvement from their previous seasons. Kansas City then went on to win their third Super Bowl in the following season, with Mahomes recording 4,183 passing yards and 27 touchdowns.

Well, it looks like a lucrative contract awaits Mahomes. But what about his preparations for the upcoming season? Will he be able to stand strong to the predictions of Louis Riddick?

Patrick Mahomes’ road to the NFL 2024 season

What’s your perspective on:

Can Patrick Mahomes really become the NFL's Ronaldo with a $100M contract if the Chiefs three-peat?

Have an interesting take?

Well, the 2024 preseason was not the cup of tea for the three-time Lombardi champion. Why so? Well, the fans still remember the fall of the Chiefs to the Detroit Lions at GEHA Field, Arrowhead Stadium. It was the 17th of August that saw the last season’s champs bow to the Lions with a marginal loss of 24-23. But what about the QB? Mahomes was the one to lead two drives and complete 8 out of 14 passes for 93 yards as he found the rookie WR Xavier Worthy for a 39-yard gain. This astonishing play from Mahomes granted his team with a 3rd play from the line of scrimmage. And that was not all.

In the same game, Mahomes completed a behind-the-back pass to his fellow TE, Travis Kelce, while the Chiefs were on their second drive against the Lions. This backpass was made when Kelce was facing communication issues with Mahomes, but the 28-year-old still managed to land it perfectly which came as a shocker to the Chifes’ fans. Furthermore, Patrick also connected on 3 out of 4 passes for 85 yards on the Chiefs’ opening game against the Jaguars. Moreover, during the pre-season finale, he was found to support his team from the sidelines.

With this kind of stunning performance in losing games, will Mahomes lead his team to victory in the season opener?
