Patrick Mahomes isn’t playing his team’s last regular game of this season against the Chargers. He has already helped the Kansas City Chiefs into the playoffs and deserves some respite. Besides that, Mahomes also deserves recognition for what he has been doing for his franchise, especially the milestones he has achieved lately.
The Chiefs stand with 10 wins and six losses this season so far. Their last win or loss in Week 18 on Sunday won’t affect their position in the NFL playoffs. The team has clinched the No. 3 seed on the playoff spot list, and they have achieved another title of the year, continuing their legacy in the NFL world.

Earlier, Kansas City rarely won a division title in consecutive years. And now they have secured their eighth straight AFC West championship. This makes them the division champions for the eighth time in a row. This streak started in 2016 and is the second-longest in NFL history. The New England Patriots have a longer streak than the Chiefs from 2009 to 2019.
The Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is responsible for seven titles after being drafted in 2017 in the 10th overall by the franchise. Since then, he has been seen as a godsend player for the franchise who helps maintain the Chiefs’ legacy over the team’s 60-year history since its establishment in 1963. The Chiefs had won just 8 AFC West titles in the 50-odd years before they signed Mahomes. After his arrival, the Chiefs added seven more titles in the next seven years, almost doubling the figure.

Last Sunday, the Chiefs faced a tough battle against the Bengals. They were 10 points behind in the second quarter. But still, the Chiefs made a comeback, winning 25-17 in Week 17. After trailing by 10 points, the team responded with 18 unanswered points. Even though the Bengals scored 17 points on their opening three possessions, KC effectively kept them from scoring on the following seven drives.
Notably, the Chiefs’ kicker, Harrison Butker, played a significant role. He didn’t miss any chance and scored all the points for the team, kicking a career-high six field goals. Although Cincinnati later scored 14 unanswered points, the Chiefs managed to deliver one of their most complete second-half performances of the season despite facing a double-digit deficit and having a lot at stake.
