The clock’s ticking and the Chiefs fans are probably getting chills at the back of their neck right about now. Why wouldn’t they? I mean, it’s safe to say we’re about to witness the best vs best in the AFC Championship round on Sunday. On one side, Patrick Mahomes is gunning for a historic 3-peat, while on the other, Josh Allen has his sights set on snagging his very first Super Bowl title. But here’s the catch.
Even after reaching the pinnacle of success—winning back-to-back Super Bowls, Mahomes knows he just can’t rest on his laurels. Ahead of the mega clash between the Chiefs and the Bills, Mahomes declared his mindset before entering the gridiron. “I have extreme appreciation for just the process of getting here… Even when you win the Super Bowl, you start back at the bottom. You’ve got to start the process on equal footing and go back to work.”
But before he gets back to work, Mahomes has a demand from the Chiefdom. He wants the fans to get louder at GEHA Field on Sunday against the Buffalo team. “Chiefs Kingdom is always passionate and always loud, but let’s see if we can kick it up a notch,” Mahomes further stated. Well, if we’re being real, then no doubt, besides the on-field performance, the Chiefdom’s gonna give a top-notch performance when it comes to cheering for the Kansas City team.

After all, Patrick Mahomes and crew are just two steps away from creating a history. Besides, the reigning champions will be entering the field after a controversial divisional round against the Texans. Of course, Mahomes might have moved on from the controversial penalties, but it would be exciting to see how the fans cheer for him and his crew against the Bills.
Because the QB has cleared himself ahead of the much-awaited game. Remember his statement about starting back at the bottom? Yeah, Mahomes knows that despite having a successful season, every game brings a fresh start, with new challenges and opponents. And the truth is, Mahomes is hungry for more, and he’s got the mindset that made him a force on the field.

Speaking of the force and challenges on the field, Travis Kelce is walking shoulder to shoulder with Mahomes. Take the last game, for instance. The veteran tight end set another playoff record as he notched over 100 yards for the 9th time in the postseason. Cherry on the top? That diving touchdown pass that he received from Mahomes. And who can forget that celebration? “It’s Playoff Trav.” That’s the QB’s review for Kelce.
However, as fierce as the Mahomes and Kelce are on the field, the head coach, Andy Reid, has major concerns for the Bills’ defense. The reason? Well, it’s the Buffalo team’s ability to force turnovers. “They’re one of the best in the league, if not the best. . .” the head coach stated ahead of the mega showdown. “They do a good job of stripping the ball and or intercepting the ball . . . they’ve got a good scheme that gives them the opportunity to do that.”
Uh-huh, rings a bell? The Ravens recently got eliminated from the league. Courtesy? A fumble in the late fourth quarter. Well, we can’t blame that fumble for the overall loss, but if Mark Andrews had caught the ball, the result could be otherwise. And of course, Andy Reid will never want for such a thing to happen in the Championship round. I mean, the Bills have been all over turnovers this year, especially when it comes to picking off passes.

Josh Allen and crew have caught 16 interceptions this season which places them in the top 5 in the league. And the forced fumbles? They’ve got some impressive numbers as well with 18 forced fumbles this season. Now one thing’s for sure, the Bills defense is dangerous precisely because they capitalize on those game-changing moments. And that will be a big challenge for Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce’s O-line.
