The Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes might be one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks. However, not everyone seems to be impressed with the 28-year-old’s skill set. Now, after the 2024 draft ended a few weeks ago, sports analysts have been comparing which teams have the strongest standings. Although the Super Bowl winners should have come out on top, the father of two ended up being snubbed for the title of No. 1 QB.

In a recent episode of NBC’s Fantasy Football Happy Hour with Matthew Berry, the sports analyst shared his picks for the top 10 NFL quarterbacks in the 2024 season. Although most people had expected Mahomes to wind up in the top three if not at the top, he wound up being dubbed No. 4. Instead of the 28-year-old being number one, his AFC rival, Josh Allen managed to steal the top spot.

During the conversation, co-host Jay Croucher stated, “Josh Allen takes the number one spot. Jalen Hurts at two Lamar Jackson at three Patrick Mahomes at four and the top five is rounded out.” While they debated over the Eagles star being higher up than the Ravens athlete, viewers were more focused on the continuation of the years-long Mahomes-Allen rivalry.

After all, this was not the first time that the athletes had been pitted against each other. In fact, their rivalry had become almost as big as the Peyton Manning-Tom Brady feud.

It is no surprise that the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills have been rivals for years. Although it might only be on the field, the rivalry extended to both the teams’ quarterbacks. The 28-year-old has dominated the former Wyoming star during the postseason and playoffs. However, the 27-year-old has thrived in the regular season with a 3-1 edge.

So far, the athletes have met on the field 7 times. The last one being in January when Kansas took the lead with 27-24. Although Mahomes might be leading with three Super Bowl wins, the rival quarterback is still trying to bag his first Lombardi Trophy for his team. Unfortunately, luck has not been in his favor recently. In fact, that seems to have been the case ever since the 13-second game a few years ago.

During a 2021 divisional game between the Bills and the Chiefs, it looked like Allen’s team might have had the upper hand during the final 13 seconds of the game. However, in a surprising turn of events, Mahomes managed to get his hands on the ball before passing it to the tight end, Travis Kelce, to score a touchdown in the end zone. Although it might have broken the hearts of the Bills Mafia, the 28-year-old led his team to victory for the second year in a row.

With Mahomes coming on top of the Bills with his recent Super Bowl win, Allen may have a lot to prove in the upcoming season.
