The holidays and New Year may have brought some respite to the Mahomes family. On February 25, 2023, Jackson Mahomes allegedly assaulted an elderly woman, Aspen Vaughn, the owner of a Kansas City restaurant in Overland Park. Since then, he has been entangled in multiple controversies and legalities.
During the investigation, he was arrested after the complaint by Vaughn over three aggravated batteries on May 3, 2023. He was later released on bond and was about to attend the court hearings in August, which were postponed until October 24 and then rescheduled to January 3 after the judge contracted COVID-19. And now, Patrick Mahomes’ brother has some relaxation after a recent breakthrough in the case.

According to the latest updates, Johnson County prosecutors seek to drop most of the charges against the brother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. On Tuesday, the district attorney’s office moved to dismiss three felony aggravated assault charges against Jackson Mahomes.
Only one misdemeanor battery charge will remain for the TikTok star if approved. The charges originate from Jackson’s arrest in May last year, facing one battery charge for alleged incidents at Vaughn’s now-closed restaurant and three counts of aggravated assault.

Aspen Vaughn, planning to invoke her Fifth Amendment right, has avoided court appearances. She last appeared in an interview in August 2023, expressing reservations about the investigation. She further revealed that she had to close her restaurant due to continuous backlashes and trolls, ultimately suffering a significant financial blow.
Prosecutors expressed doubts about Vaughn’s credibility, suggesting that even with immunity, she might admit to being untruthful to the police and claim the encounter with Jackson Mahomes was consensual. On the other hand, Mahomes’ attorney, Brandon Davies, maintained Jackson’s innocence, saying he “has done nothing wrong” and will comment further after the remaining charge is resolved.
