As they say, ‘Third time’s a charm’. For the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes, that’s HISTORY they are after, but standing in their way is a Philly squad that’s been waiting two years for revenge. And if that wasn’t enough of a storyline, here comes President Donald Trump, adding another layer to the Super Bowl spectacle. But wait a minute! The Big Game and Trump remind us about something from the past.

Let us go back to February 2020. It was Super Bowl LIV, and the Chiefs fought the San Francisco 49ers really hard to lift the Lombardi Trophy. Trump was pleased with the red team’s 31-20 win and wanted to congratulate them. That’s when he made a big geographical error!

“Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs on a great game, and a fantastic comeback, under immense pressure. You represented the Great State of Kansas… and, in fact, the entire USA, so very well.” Mr. Trump wrote in a tweet. “Our country is PROUD OF YOU.”

Yikes! The Chiefs play in the state of Missouri, which is right next to Kansas State. But what thoughts does Donald Trump have about the upcoming Super Bowl? After all, he will be the first sitting president to attend it, and the U.S. Secret Service is responsible for his protection. Well, he stated:

While Trump did not name a team, he instead told reporters, “I don’t want to say, but there’s a certain quarterback that seems to be a pretty good winner.” Now, there is a strong consensus that he was talking about Pat. So how did the Chiefs’ QB feel after knowing Trump praised him? As visible on the Kansas City Chiefs’ YouTube video of the LIX Press Conference, he stated:

“It’ll be cool to be able to play in front of the sitting president. Someone who’s at the top position in our country. I didn’t see that clip, but obviously it’s cool to hear that he has seen me play football and respects the game that I play.”

Interesting Fact: While no sitting president has attended a Super Bowl, did you know that three vice presidents have? Spiro Agnew in 1971, George H.W. Bush in 1982, and Al Gore in 1994 attended the game. In fact, Bush also attended Super Bowl XXXVI as a former president and participated in the coin toss.

Surely, Mr. Trump’s words will only motivate the Chiefs to accomplish their three-peat. But there is one more thing we need to consider.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Mahomes secure a third title, or will the Eagles' revenge plot spoil the party?

Of course, Trump’s presence at the Super Bowl means one thing—security will be tight. The Secret Service has been on the ground for days, prepping for the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl. Fans can expect longer lines, tighter checkpoints, and probably a few extra cameras catching their every move. But hey, that’s the price of history.

Meanwhile, Mahomes and the Chiefs aren’t worried about any of that. They’ve got a kingdom to fight for. The Eagles want revenge. And the rest of the league is united to see Philly get it done. As for politics, Pat has left that department for the rest of the Mahomes family to deal with.

Patrick Mahomes knows what’s up! And drama is not a part of it…

The QB is all about football. But that hasn’t stopped his wife, Brittany, and his mom, Randi, from being vocal about their political beliefs. Brittany has spoken out on social justice issues, while Randi proudly showed support for Donald Trump, sporting a MAGA hat at a Chiefs game back in the regular season.

And guess what? That’s their business. But for KC’s 15? He wants no part of it.

Back when all this drama unfolded about his mom and wife in 2024, his response was pretty straightforward and simple: “I think my place is to inform people to get registered to vote, to inform people to do their own research and then make their best decision for them and their family.”

The QB does not believe in using his platform to endorse a presidential candidate and this is despite the fact that Trump once called Brittany a “big MAGA fan.” He simply wants to play the game he loves; Especially when his side has so much at stake.

Remember the last time the Chiefs faced the Eagles in a Super Bowl? It was Feb. 12, 2023, and Mahomes walked away with another ring and another MVP. Now, with the rematch set, the Eagles and the rest of their rivals are really hoping for their downfall.

Here are Mahomes’ stats from all the four Super Bowls he appeared in:
