When one thinks of Patrick Mahomes, they probably picture him dodging defenders on the field. But this holiday season, the Chiefs superstar is dodging something else… challenges off the gridiron to spread joy in Kansas City.

Mahomes is back in the spotlight after easing concerns about his ankle injury. He is now bringing smiles to children at Children’s Mercy Hospital. He partnered with Build-A-Bear Workshop, a company worth a whopping $577 million for this charitable effort. Imagine the joy on those kids’ faces as they received personalized bears! That too, with an encouraging message from Mahomes on each one of them. It’s a perfect blend of sportsmanship and heart. However, this partnership isn’t just about cute bears.

The collaboration also saw Build-A-Bear donate permanent toys to the hospital’s playroom. In an Instagram post, the foundation shared how they ensured continued support for kids long after the holidays. “Today, the @15andmahomies Foundation partnered with @buildabear and & @childrensmercy to bring joy to children for the holiday season! 🎁 Each child was gifted a custom bear with an encouraging message from @patrickmahomes. The foundation also donated permanent toys for the playroom at Children’s Mercy Hospital 🧸❤️ #MerryChristmas #15andtheMahomies🎄✨”

Mahomes’s 15 and Mahomies Foundation is all about giving back, and teaming up with a beloved brand like Build-A-Bear amplifies their impact. And it’s truly inspiring to see a sports star use his platform for such meaningful causes. However, Mahomes’s generosity doesn’t stop there.

Earlier in 2023, his family faced a scary moment. His son, Bronze, had faced a severe allergic reaction. This unexpected challenge led Mahomes to launch ’15 and FARE,’ an initiative aimed at improving dining safety in Kansas City restaurants. Mahomes shared his motivation in a heartfelt Instagram video, saying, “Food allergic reactions can happen anytime, anywhere.” The “15 and FARE” effort also extended to the NFL, as Mahomes dedicated this year’s “My Cause, My Cleats.” to this initiative.
