Can Mahomes' unconventional physique silence critics and redefine NFL quarterback standards?

Patrick Mahomes responded well to his haters! The 49ers vs Chiefs Week 7 game ended with a win for Mahomes and his team. However, the battle which is going offline doesn’t seem to end soon.

Actually, during the quarterback’s rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game, Niners defensive back Malik Mustapha tried to block Patrick Mahomes. However, he failed miserably in doing so, as he was sent to the ground after colliding with the QB. This incident brought chaos on social media, with many sharing a meme-kind of the post, reportedly in which Mahomes’ shirt is off and Mustapha tried to tackle him with his shirt off. This humorous post is circulating online, showing Patrick Mahomes’ “dad bod” physique, and the haters are leaving no stone unturned to body-shame him.

To slam all his haters, Mahomes, who joined The Drive podcast recently with host Carrington Harrison, admitted the importance of his physique. When asked if his dad’s body look helped him in Mustapha’s case, Patrick Mahomes said, “Yeah, no doubt. Because, I mean, I was really trying to run over the guy. I was just trying to get in the end zone.” And did his physique contribute something to his following act? He continued, “He was coming up fast, and I’ve seen how he hits, so I was more bracing to take the hit as I got in the end zone, but the dad bod helped me out there. I got the game. I have little weight, and I was able to hold my ground, and then I got in the end zone.” Dad’s bod does help.

Patrick Mahomes actually doesn’t belong to the list of players who are gifted NFL physiques. However, as said by the QB, his around four inches and over 15 pounds on the 49ers safety, helped him bulldoze Mustapha during the game.

And guess what? Being a true sports person, the round 4 selected player of the 2024 NFL Draft, shared a couple of humorous responses after being hit by Mahomes in the end zone.

Bulldozed by Mahomes, Mustapha left seeing stars?

Chiefs vs 49ers post-game, Malik Mustapha shared a couple of messages. This was in response to his embarrassment due to Patrick Mahomes’ hit. Sharing an Instagram story, he humorously wrote for himself, “Well there’s my welcome to the NFL moment (with an upside-down smiling face).” In addition to that, the athlete also didn’t miss sharing a GIF. In that, the influencer and professional boxer, KSI, could be seen saying, “I AIN’T GONNA LIE I’M GETTING COOKED.” Hilarious take, isn’t it?

Well, many NFL fans loved the way Mustapha took this incident. On the other hand, people are giving Patrick Mahomes mixed reactions to his dad bod. Hence, to clear the air, Mahomes’ long͏-time trainer, Bobby St͏roupe, also stepped up. He said, “I’ll ͏b͏e the first to tell you that I think an NFL quarterback should have at least͏ 14% body fat.” The reason? “It’s not ͏from an unhealthy standpoint,͏ but from ͏a force absorption ͏standpoint. You have to͏ be able to ͏take contact,Stroupe added.

Yes! Patrick Mahomes has extra body fat, and that’s intentional. It helps him to endure the physical toll͏ of playing quarterback. More than someone who possesses a lean or a fit six-pack body.
