Patrick Mahomes backs Kamala Harris—Does this change your view of the Chiefs' star QB?

The 2024 GOP Platform: Make America Great Again.” When former President Donald Trump shared a few pointers to make America great, no one would have thought Patrick Mahomes‘ wife Brittany would become the center of a raging controversy. Shortly after the upload, Trump’s post was liked by Brittany Mahomes, perhaps agreeing with what the former President said. However, that didn’t sit well with the masses, especially Trump’s haters, who started sending her hateful comments. And thus, the controversy started!

Naturally, the next question fans would have was: where do Patrick Mahomes’ political loyalties lie? However, to everyone’s surprise, Mahomes sidestepped politics despite the ongoing controversy with his wife. According to podcaster Jason Whitlock, “Patrick Mahomes said he wouldn’t make a 2024 presidential endorsement” between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

Whitlock thinks “he [Patrick] has steered to a more authentic place and is tired of living the lie.” He hasn’t mentioned any reason for now, but it probably seems he does not want to indulge in any controversy and is solely focused on his upcoming season.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Brittany responded after the controversy began when she liked the post that outlined the Republican Party’s platform for the 2024 election. She shared a story on her official Instagram account saying, “I mean honestly, to be a hater as an adult you have to have some deep rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood. There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well.”

The Mahomes family is no stranger to online vitriol. However, commenting on politics can entirely be a different animal. But fortunately, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback knows the consequences, and that’s the reason he stated his point very clearly in April.

Why did Patrick Mahomes choose not to speak on politics?

Whether you are a sports star or a celebrity, it’s natural that fans follow what their stars do! Similarly, Patrick Mahomes has always been a figure that people look up to, both on and off the field. But when it comes to politics, he’s made one thing clear: he’s not going to tell you who to vote for. He wants his fans to choose on their own, this time.

Have an interesting take?

Back in April, he openly shared with Time magazine that he doesn’t want to sway anyone’s decision on who should be the next president. He said, “I don’t want to pressure anyone to vote for a certain president. I want people to use their voice, whoever they believe in. I want them to do the research” and make their voices heard at the ballot box.

It wasn’t the first time Mahomes spoke about voter turnout either. He encouraged people to vote in 2020, but, even then, he didn’t endorse any particular candidate. And even though the political landscape has shifted with Joe Biden stepping back from re-election, Mahomes seems to be holding onto that same neutral stance.

Other high-profile athletes like Stephen Curry and his coach, Steve Kerr, have chosen to step into the political spotlight, endorsing Kamala Harris during the Democratic National Convention. On the opposite side, NFL players Maxx Crosby and Gardner Minshew made headlines for their recent appearances with Donald Trump.
