On Christmas Day, the Kansas City Chiefs experienced heightened emotions. Mainly because they succumbed to a disappointing 20-14 loss against the Las Vegas Raiders, underscoring the team’s ongoing offensive struggles. This defeat effectively eliminated their chances of securing the No.1 seed in the AFC.

It also delayed the Chiefs’ clinching of their eighth consecutive AFC West title, as their record fell to 9-6. The reigning Super Bowl champions faced setbacks that fueled frustrations. In the post-game interview, Patrick Mahomes talked about how the whole team is trying to make things better and improve on their flaws. Sideline tensions flared as Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, took center stage with noticeable outbursts. In a display of frustration, Mahomes directed his ire towards the offensive line, a moment captured on the sidelines. It was later revealed that Mahomes was asking his teammates to be better on the field. However, the Hall-of-Famer player Tim Grunhard believed it was time Mahomes took accountability.

On Sports Radio 810, Grunhard said, “I love when the Chiefs say ‘well, you know what, we don’t have any consistency yet, but we’re working on our consistency.’ It’s Week 16! There’s no more time to work on it! This is what you talked about it when we talked about it in Week 3, 4 and 5… Let’s call it the way it is. We baby these guys way too much. I mean, come on. There is no excuse for the start of that football games. That was crap…” He talked about how he has enough experience where he knows when the team is not playing at par.

He remarked, “Patrick Mahomes played like crap [on Monday]. I don’t care if he was running around because of protection problems. They didn’t play good either … but he didn’t play well. Patrick, if you’re listening, you know you didn’t play well. Quit making excuses for everybody.” This was a direct response by Grunhard to Patrick Mahomes’ recent press conference.
