Patrick Mahomes' philanthropy: Is he setting a new standard for NFL players off the field?

The Mahomes family is big on charity and philanthropic measures. Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes, the founder of the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, has contributed significantly to the welfare of children, in terms of their education, fitness, and wellness. Last year we also saw Mahomes and his wife give a hefty donation at a fundraising auction. And when it comes to helping out those in need, Mama Mahomes isn’t far behind.

Randi Mahomes has always been keen on giving back to society and having firsthand experience of how sports can change the lives of people, it was no surprise that she attended the Celebrity Softball Classic game in Texas. The event was geared toward raising funds for many charities and featured celebrities including Wes Harris, Denver Bush, and Ryan Griffis.

Randi was part of the “Helping a Hero” charity team and was spotted wearing a white uniform at the event. Her team helped raise $87,500 for the veterans of Texas. The non-profit organization was set up in 2006 and seeks to empower wounded heroes injured in the post-9/11 global war on terror by helping to build a specially adapted home designed to restore their independence. Earlier, Randi shared a story on her Instagram that featured other participants from the event with the caption, “Last Names Matter.”

All in all the fundraiser program collected over $760,000 for 17 different charities. Devin Hutchinson, who participated in the fundraiser shared photos from the event on his Instagram, one of which had Randi and Hutchinson posing with another woman. In the caption, Hutchinson shared information about the charity event writing, “17 Charities over 760,500 Raised, another amazing year in the books

Other notable contributions to the charities included $175,000 to Dying Defiantly which aims to empower veterans, military, first responders, Gold star families, and anyone facing terminal illnesses to live their lives to the fullest, $90,000 to Empowering Veterans, and $104,000 to Forever Family Rescue Foundation, a dog rescue organization, which helps the animals find loving, permanent homes.

Randi Mahomes’ style of charity revolves around sports. Last month Variety KC, a nonprofit for specially-abled children, partnered with Randi Mahomes for the inaugural Heart & Serve pickleball tournament in the KC metro. Proceeds from the September 14 event at the Kansas City Convention Center went to the Variety KC.

The event featured Randi Mahomes and 18 other professional sports moms and wives. Variety KC provides children who have special needs and disabilities with vital medical equipment for mobility, sensory, communication, safety, and therapies. Meanwhile, Jackson Mahomes, the Super Bowl MVP’s younger brother, attended the pickleball charity event and posted a photo on Instagram with his mother.

Randi Mahomes’ recent appearance at the Texas charity event is all the more commendable considering she is going through a family crisis with her father severely ill.

As his son took the field against the Chargers in Week 4, Randi posted an update on X, writing, “Watching game with daddy today… prayers please for my dad.” In the photo, we see her daughter Mia seated alongside a hospital bed, where her father, Randy, is lying facing the TV and watching his grandson play.

On September 13 as well, she posted a message on X asking for prayers. “Prayer warriors please pray for my daddy. He is in the hospital and is not well.. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 his name is Randy.” Still, in the face of adversity, the Mahomes family tries to help those less privileged.

Patrick Mahomes and wife made a massive contribution to a charity event last year

In 2019, the NFL MVP made an outstanding decision for the young children who didn’t have access to the best facilities. Named ’15 and the Mahomies’ the foundation is aimed at helping young children with a focus on their health and wellbeing. There are three programs mainly: Read for 15, Volunteer for 15, and 15 for 15. Committed to the cause, he is organizing the annual Foundation Gala on the 28th of October.

So far the foundation has raised over $600,000 dollars for those in need. Last year in November, Mahomes and his wife Brittany hosted a fundraising gala event via their foundation. The Optimal Fundraising Group organized this event for the Mahomes couple, aimed at helping less privileged children. The NFL power couple “awarded $615,000 in grants to 19 different charitable organizations!” at the fourth-annual 15 and the Mahomies Foundation Gala.

Patrick Mahomes supports several other charities and non-profits, including the KC Pet Project and East Texas Food Bank. Thus the Mahomes family as we see is at the forefront of coming to the help of those in need and for the betterment of their society.
