Simone Biles just wrote a new chapter. The gymnastics GOAT snagged gold at the Paris Olympics and dropped a major truth bomb about mental health. And Mama Mahomes is all in on her powerful stance!

Patrick Mahomes‘ mom Randi Mahomes took to her IG story, giving major props to Ms. Biles for her killer comeback and her stand on mental health. Her story featured a gold-medal snap with the caption: “Let Simone Biles be proof that mental health matters and taking time to take care of it makes you BETTER not weaker.”

Biles’ road to the top was far from a straight shot. She’s faced myriad challenges, from the ‘twisties’—a term used when athletes fail body-brain connection, losing their bearings in mid-air—to surviving se*ual abuse by a doctor. Through it all, she didn’t lose courage.

Remember when she had to back out of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics due to mental health concerns? The world went nuts (literally!) Critics labeled her ‘weak’ and ‘selfish’. But she knew better. When talking about her decision to step back from the competition, Biles spoke her heart out: “I don’t trust myself as much as I used to. I don’t know if it’s age and I’m a little bit more nervous when I do gymnastics. I feel like I’m not having as much fun. But I know what’s right for me.”

The gymnast legend prioritized her mental health over the pressure to perform, a move that took guts. And now, look at her—gold medalist once again, and the applause just keeps rolling in!

Experts and Olympians applaud Biles’ bold break

Experts like Dr. Chloe Carmichael, a NYC-based clinical psychologist, are all about Biles’ decision to take a break, noting how it’s been a game-changer for her career. “I think that her strong performance validates the wisdom of her withdrawal and taking a break,” Carmichael said. “It appears that she really did use that time to recharge and that the break was in service of growth as an athlete and as a professional.”

Even fellow Olympians rallied around Biles. Allyson Felix admired Biles’ courage to speak about mental health matters. “I’m really proud of her for bringing these conversations to the forefront,” said Felix. U.S. Weightlifter Kate Nye, who also battled mental health issues, connected deeply with the Gymnastics legend’s experience. Openly discussing her bipolar disorder and ADHD situation, Nye revealed, “I know what it’s like to have severe mental health issues.”

Today, the world doesn’t just know Biles as a star athlete, but as someone who showed it’s okay to seek help without fear of judgment.
