The Mahomes family found itself in the thick of the US election drama due to Brittany Mahomes ‘like’ on Instagram back in August. The wife of Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes had shown her approval for Donald Trump’s 2024 GOP platform, which led to intense backlash online. Even though Patrick himself steered away from backing Trump, his mother Randi has joined her daughter-in-law in supporting the Republican candidate.
In recent weeks, we have seen the presidential election grip the NFL world, with former Pittsburgh Steelers running back, Le’Veon Bell, openly endorsing Trump and even going on to say that he would leave the country if Kamala Harris came to power. Now, in the latest development, Randi Mahomes has shared her support of Trump during an NFL game at the Arrowhead.
As the Chiefs prepared to face the Bucs, OutKick shared a video of Randi Mahomes, dressed in a Chiefs outfit, in the VIP suite. Wearing a MAGA hat, Randi Mahomes says, “Make America Great Again, let’s do it!!!” She seemed to be wholeheartedly endorsing the former president of the USA. Moreover, her enthusiastic “Woooo” confirmed who she intended to vote for.

Randi’s views seem to align with those of her daughter-in-law, Brittany, who courted controversy over her actions on August 13. Brittany had liked a post on Instagram that outlined the “2024 GOP platform.” The details in the post promised, to “Seal the border, and stop the migrant invasion,” “Keep men OUT of women’s sports,” and “Carry out the largest deportation operation in American history.”
As screenshots of Brittany’s apparent endorsement went viral, she was at the receiving end of online backlash and criticism, with some of them coming from her friend Taylor Swift’s fans, after the pop singer openly supported Kamala Harris. In response, Brittany uploaded an Instagram story, where she wrote, “I mean honestly, To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep-rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood. There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well.”

She also posted a message on social media on August 26, writing, “Contrary to the tone of the world today….you can disagree with someone, and still love them. You can have differing views, and still be kind. Read that again!” Her apparent support and words led Donald Trump to express his gratitude to the wife of the Super Bowl winner.
In September, Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, and wrote, “I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Count.” Later, Trump also talked about Brittnay during an appearance on Fox & Friends on September 11.
During the episode he referred to Brittany Mahomes as a “big Trump fan,” and even went on to say, “Well, I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better, if you want to know the truth.” This was after he was informed of Taylor Swift’s support for Harris.
While some members of the Mahomes family have been open about their backing of Trump, Patrick Mahomes’s stance on the election is different.
Patrick Mahomes refused to back any presidential candidate publicly
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback hasn’t expressed allegiance to a Democratic or Republican candidate like Randi Mahomes.
The Chiefs’s QB has detached himself from any political ramblings and wants people to make an informed decision about who they are voting for. Patrick Mahomes doesn’t want to abuse his position as a well-recognized NFL star and doesn’t want to “endorse a candidate or do whatever either way.”
“I think my place is to inform people to get registered to vote, is to inform people to do their own research and then make their best decision for them and their family,” Patrick said. “I think every time I’m on this stage and I get asked these questions, I’m going to refer back to that because I think that’s what makes America so great.”
