Could Demarcus Robinson be the missing piece the Chiefs need to reclaim their former glory?

The Los Angeles Rams have finally found a groove. With a 26-20 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, they might be on the cusp of saving their season. But the credit for this win goes to Demarcus Robinson, the Rams wide receiver who helped the time seal the game with just five minutes remaining in the overtime with a one-handed catch. Well, it was not just fans who were in awe. Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes was left stunned as he tweeted, “‼️‼️‼️@Demarcus.”

This further pushed Chiefs fans to put forth their demands from Mahomes: They want DeMarcus Robinson back. In fact, they are already imploring Mahomes to trade for Robinson. The trade deadline is November 5 and even if the Chiefs want to get this deal done, time is running out. But things change in a blink of an eye in the NFL and stranger things have happened.

Robinson was drafted in 2016 by the Chiefs (Round 4, Pick 28) and played for them until 2021. He then switched to the Ravens in 2022 for one season before settling for the Rams. But during his time with the Chiefs, he participated in two Super Bowls: One against San Francisco and the other against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, when it was led by Tom Brady. However, he didn’t get the opportunity to contribute much to those mega-games.

But if we look at his latest game against the Seahawks, the receiver had 6 receptions over 94 yards and scored two touchdowns. That one-handed snag on a 39-yard pass from Matthew Stafford in the overtime was an eye candy of a play. And before that, he scored a touchdown on a one-yard pass from the Rams QB in the second half to get the Rams to 13-10.

This was his seventh game of the season, and the receiver has amassed 233 yards and three touchdowns this season. But right now, stats don’t matter. The truth is, the Kansas City Chiefs can sign him for this season, just like they brought back JuJu Smith-Schuster and Kareem Hunt.

The Chiefs offense has been struggling with Rashee Rice, Isiah Pacheco, and Hollywood Brown, and the trade deadline is nigh. The team needs a receiver now more than ever and the Chiefs fans have made it clear.

Kansas City Chiefs: The fans want DeMarcus Robinson back!

Robinson, who was drafted by the Chiefs in 2016, decided to forgo his senior season to enter the 2016 NFL Draft. He was the first WR chosen by the team back then and a lot of fans the Chiefs team to be his home.

  • “Bring him [Robinson] home!!LFG”
  • “Bring him home #15”

That being said, Robinson, in the past, made a couple of attempts to switch teams. For instance, he played out his rookie contract with the Chiefs through 2019 and hit free agency. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to generate much interest, like how Albert Wilson or Chris Conley did. Owing to that, he decided to run it back with the Chiefs and returned on a single-season deal. It looks like fans want to see something similar once again.

One would have thought that Chiefs’ fans would have moved on from the player. However, that deep pass that Robinson caught from Stafford is exactly what Patrick Mahomes and his team need right now. But will the Rams let him go?

  • “Rams aren’t trading him”

The bigger question is: Is there enough time for the Chiefs to get him on board? After all, the deadline is on Nov. 5 and there might not be too much time for a detailed conversation. But let us not forget that there have been rumors about the Chiefs trading for Robinson since last month.
