Let’s dive into the quarterback showdown. Here are our top five contenders for the “Best Quarterback” award:

1. Lamar Jackson

Don’t go by our ranking. Chiefs QB Mahomes himself threw his weight behind Lamar. “He’s going to be the MVP for a reason. He goes out there, he leads his team, he scores, he runs, he throws. He does whatever it takes to win, and that’s what the greats do.”

Jackson’s versatility under new OC Todd Monken is reaching new heights! How so? His improved passing game, combined with his dynamic running ability, has made him a double threat for defenses. When it comes to the rushing game, we already know he’s NFL numero uno.

2. Brock Purdy

Purdy has been a consistent presence at the top of MVP odds. His resume? He can boast of the best NFL passer rating and quarterback rating in 2023. With the best completion percentage, yards, and touchdowns among all signal-callers with 75 or more passes, he’s a strong contender. If he can secure a Super Bowl win, it might finally earn him the respect (and salary) he deserves. Brock won’t be “Mr. Irrelevant” anymore.

3. Jared Goff

People thought that he wouldn’t amount to much. Goff had been written off after the Rams’ trade for Matthew Stafford. And now look where he has come. Goff led the Lions to their first conference title game since 1991. Elevating his play with a stronger supporting cast, Goff’s performance in playoff wins over the Rams and Buccaneers was noteworthy. Completing almost three-quarters of his attempts for 564 yards with three touchdowns and zilch interceptions this NFL season, Goff has proven his mettle.

4. Josh Allen

Despite fifteen interceptions, Allen has showcased some of his best football. His numbers? Allen has successfully completed more than two-thirds of his passes for 4,306 passing yards. What about touchdowns? 29! Additionally, he has led the Bills to a winning 11-6 record. Moreover, he led an impressive three-game winning streak defeating formidable enemies such as the Chiefs and the Cowboys.

Sure, they crashed out of the playoffs after the Chiefs decable, but he definitely deserves a seat on the table.

5. Patrick Mahomes

We get it, Mahomes has not been himself this NFL season. But hear us out. The Chiefs have been brilliant in the playoffs since Mahomes took over. More than half of the Chiefs’ postseason wins (13 of 22) have come with him under center. The upcoming AFC Championship game will be the litmus test to see if he’s deserving of a spot on this list.
