Does Mahomes' leadership make him the greatest QB of our generation?

How many of us can actually excel in carrying out duties both in and out of the professional grounds? Well, it looks like the 3 time Super Bowl champion, Patrick Mahomes is a burning example of the same. But he has a hidden side, which makes him a great leader among his peers. Moreover, his other side seems to have stunned his wife, Brittany Mahomes, as she took the stage to shed more light on it.

On the Whoop show of 28th August, Mrs. Mahomes didn’t hold back while she talked about the unknown side of her husband, “ All the dedication that he has um the amount that he studies and watches films and has meetings with the coaches is honestly insane to me.” But there was more that shocked Brittany as she talked of Patrick’s discipline as a leader from his last season. And why was his discipline in the 2023 season commended by his wife?

Well, Mahomes and his Chiefs had a tough season as they lost 6 games during the regular season. But the 28-year-old QB kept his cool and never blamed his team for the losses. And that’s true because Patrick Mahomes didn’t have any excuses when the Chiefs lost to the Broncos in October 2023. The QB said, “They just got after us,” as he praised Denver’s defense against Kansas City. And that’s not all as the soon-to-be three-time mom further emphasized her husband’s perks of being a true leader, “He would never once blame it on anybody else it was like what am I doing wrong, how can I be better as a leader, how can I make this team be better.” Well, Brittany wasn’t wrong about Mahomes. And why so?

If I start playing better, everybody will start playing better,” were the words of the Chiefs’ QB after their game against the New York Jets in October 2023. And why did he say so? Well, Mahomes threw 2 interceptions in that game, which made the Chiefs struggle for a 23-20 win, even after an initial lead of 17-0 against the Jets. And, from his words, it feels like he was well aware of what made his team struggle to snatch a deserving win from the Jets. He further mentioned that he hadn’t played a “very good start to the season” during his run in the last season.

Well, it seems like Mahomes is indeed an example of a GOAT leader as he stayed on the frontline in all stakes. So, with all the praises from his wife, how is the 3-time Lombardi champ preparing for the coming season?

Mahomes riles up for the 2024 season

Even after a not-so-great start to the preseason, the Chiefs’ QB did not back off from showing his skills with the pigskin. On his second preseason game against the Lions, Patrick Mahomes completed a stunning back pass with TE Travis Kelce, even after miscommunications during the second drive. And the leader has been doing well with his rookie WRs too.

On the Chief’s first drive against the Detroit Lions, Xavier Worthy got wide open and Mahomes hit him for a 39-yard gain. Moreover, during the first quarter, the rookie wideout sneaked behind the defense, which made him wide-open for a 22-yard score from a blazing throw from Mahomes. Furthermore, the 28-year-old QB completed 3 of 4 passes and covered 85 passing yards to find Marquise Brown and Isiah Pacheco for TD chances during the first preseason game against the Jaguars. And in the final pre-season game, he was found to cheer his boys from the sidelines.

Have an interesting take?

But, Alas! The Chiefs couldn’t win a single preseason game. As Mahomes was doing well with his new starters, will he be the great leader again and hand over the SB crown to the Chiefs again?
