Everyone in Kansas City would be on their knees praying for at least the next few days. On the day when the Chiefs finally won a game with a healthy margin, they had to witness their reigning Super Bowl MVP limp off the field. With only eight minutes remaining on the clock, Patrick Mahomes saw himself sandwiched in between two Brown defenders. This left Mahomes agonizing in pain, as he couldn’t walk freely after that.

With no other option, the Chiefs had to replace him with backup QB Carson Wentz. He completed both of his passes for 20 yards as the Chiefs came away with their 13th victory and an injured Mahomes. Well, the Chiefs QB didn’t just limp as he made his way to the locker room. Post-game visuals showed that Mahomes had to be carted off the Chiefs’ locker room because he couldn’t walk properly.

Although Andy Reid later came out and said his “ankle was not broken,” there could be other concerns. As per Tom Christ, a physical therapy doctor, his analysis states Mahomes may have ruptured his MCL. Going through the footage of his injury, Christ wrote, “Right ankle gets caught, eversion mechanism which can cause a high ankle or medial ankle sprain. Also, looking at the right knee twisting, which would be concerning for MCL but not sure that’s the problem. Hope he’s okay.” Well, the whole Kansas City will be hoping Mahomes is more than okay.

However, Christ also added that “Left ankle also getting tended to. Can’t see much from this angle, but more likely a lateral sprain there.” Now, this isn’t the update that the Chiefs Kingdom was hoping for. If Mahomes has really injured both of his ankles, then it could be almost impossible for him to return before the Texans game. But Reid has said, “It’ll literally be day to day.” So the question is, will Mahomes be able to come back and help the Chiefs in their short week?

And Patrick Mahomes wasn’t finished there. He then pointed out how it’s their responsibility to play no matter what: “But at the end of the day, it’s your job. You’re a professional. You have to come to work and do it.” But seeing the current circumstances of the Chiefs NFL schedule, it looks like Mahomes became the first victim of an ugly schedule that didn’t take into consideration players’ well-being. Although it would be a great experience from a fan’s perspective to watch football during the holidays.

After the Browns game, the Chiefs Kingdom will surely have different thoughts. They wouldn’t really prefer the Chiefs playing with their three-time Super Bowl Champion. Apart from Mahomes, Chris Jones has also raised his voice about playing other than Sundays, “I’d rather just play on Sunday. I love my rest…You have to kind of speed everything up. It’s challenging.” Seeing the schedule, the Chiefs would be praying for some good news on Mahomes’ injury, which doesn’t look great.
