The Kansas City Chiefs have been trading spots left and right. Earlier, they traded spots with the Bills and drafted the WR Xavier Worthy into their arsenal. Now, the Kansas City team traded with the San Francisco 49ers and drafted Kingsley Suamataia, the tackle out of BYU as no. 63 overall pick.
The news got Patrick Mahomes excited because he got one more player to protect him and help him get even better in the 2024 season. The Chiefs quarterback had the GM Brett Veach to thank for it and the Super Bowl winner took to X to share his thoughts.
Mahomes went on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote a message for Brett Veach. His post said, “I love veach man! 😎,” seemingly elated with the decision that the Kansas City Chiefs GM made. It is to be noted that the Kansas City Chiefs received the No. 63 overall pick and No. 211 in the sixth round in exchange for No. 64 and No. 173 in the fifth round.

Coming back to Suamataia, the tackle originally started his career with Oregon before he moved to BYU. In 2023, he started 11 games as a left tackle, but in the 2022 season, Suamataia played 12 games as a starter at the right tackle position. He was also a second-team All-Big 12 honoree for his performance in 2023.
While the Kansas City Chiefs have done a great job at drafting, some comments on Mahomes’ post take the focus away from the Chiefs. “Max will make you cry again,” said one person addressing the comment to Mahomes. While there are more affirming comments like, “Yessir. We finally got our consistent starting left tackle. Making sure you protected so we can get some more Chips, Champ!”
However, this signing isn’t the only impressive one the Chiefs did recently.

About a month ago, the Chiefs signed Louis Rees-Zammit, a former Welsh rugby star as he was a part of the International Player Pathway (IPP) and the Chiefs took advantage of it. The player has signed in for a hybrid role and will be switching between wide receiver and running back as the situation demands.

Before joining the Chiefs, Rees-Zammit had meetings with other teams like the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, and the Denver Broncos. Apparently, he’s already started working out with the Chiefs as he posted a photo of him working out with Mahomes.
We can’t wait for the next regular season to begin to watch these new players in action. Can you?
