Towards the tail end of last year, Patrick Mahomes signed a restructured contract extension to his original contract. This new contract made him the highest-paid player in NFL history. The QB is set to earn around $52.65 million per year. But he can earn even more on top of that amount.
As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to take on the Buffalo Bills in the AFC divisional round. A win would take them closer to their goal of back-to-back Super Bowls. But this win also gives Mahomes a plush bonus of $1.25 million.

Now, with a contract of $210.6 million till 2026, Mahomes can make more than his salary, as incentives. The first one available to him has one hurdle, the Bills.
If the Chiefs manage to defeat the Bills on the road, they’ll qualify for the AFC Championship matchup. And on winning the championship, Mahomes will have a guaranteed payment of $1.25 million. However, he should not underestimate his current roadblock for the championship.

For Patrick Mahomes and Co., the Buffalo Bills have been a tricky opponent in the past. Both teams have met 54 times and Bills lead the series with 29-24-1. The Bills also defeated the Chiefs in the Week 14 game of the regular season.
However, the last time these teams faced each other in the divisional playoffs, the Chiefs came out with a victory. That OT playoff win is the only time the Chiefs have managed to defeat the Bills in their last 4 meetings.
