Is Mahomes' confidence in the Chiefs' future justified, or is he overlooking key injuries?

Week 5 ended in good spirits for Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs. They limited the New Orleans Saints team to 13 points, eventually winning the Monday night football game with 13 points (26-13). With this Mahomes and his team won their fifth game in a row, but wait! There’s probably more to come.

In a recent post-game press conference, Patrick Mahomes appeared in front of the media standing tall with pride after winning another one in this season. However, besides this, the 29-year-old revealed that he thinks there’s more to come with the Chiefs in further weeks, perhaps giving a subtle warning to the other 31 NFL teams.

In the presser, the quarterback praised his offensive linemen, warning his opponent teams, by saying,It’s going to be real tough whenever you get back and you have Kareem Hunt, Pacheco, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire. I mean they have done a great job of adding to that room…..and so we’ll be able to run the football and then hopefully the play action game gets even better.” This shows that Mahomes is clearly excited about the possibilities once everyone, especially Pacheco, is back in action.

Currently, Isiah Pacheco is out of the Chiefs’ games due to “a fibula fracture he sustained in the team’s Week 2 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.” And hence, Patrick Mahomes thinks once he is back, the team’s offense will be more dynamic than usual. But, it’s strange to notice that the 29-year-old didn’t mention another offensive star of the team–Rashee Rice.

Rice, who was hit in his knee due to a collision with Patrick Mahomes in week 4 game, is speculated to be out of the 2024 season. He is expected to have a surgery on Tuesday, and according to the reports, the recovery might take 3-4 months, which essentially means an end to his season. Probably, that’s why Patrick Mahomes ignored Rice as his offensive star for the lineup, as he will not be able to add his skill-set to the offense.

Nevertheless, Mahomes thinks at least he has $3 million star, Isiah Pacheco, in his team, who can come back in the upcoming weeks.

When will Patrick Mahomes’ trusted player, Isiah Pacheco, return?

What’s your perspective on:

Is Mahomes' confidence in the Chiefs' future justified, or is he overlooking key injuries?

Have an interesting take?

In the fourth quarter of the 26-25 win at Arrowhead Stadium against Cincinnati, Isiah Pacheco went down after being hit at both high and low by the three Bengals’ players. After some tests, it was revealed that he fractured his fibula. Now, Pacheco being a star player, who received 15 of the 20 Chiefs’ carries in the Week 1 win, was put on the injury-reserved list. This brought worries to the Chiefs nation for the future games.

According to Ian Rapoport’s report in September, “RB Isiah Pacheco underwent successful surgery from Dr. Robert Anderson, the noted foot and ankle expert in Charlotte, sources say. No complications, no ligament issues.” So, as the scans showed no ligament issues, many thought he might come soon, as the NFL insider speculated, “His timeline to return remains at least 6 weeks up to 8 weeks.” Despite all this, coach Andy Reid didn’t appear in high spirits as he mentioned earlier, “I can’t give you a time when he’ll return….We’ll just see if it’s this season or next season.” His doubts about Pacheco’s comeback surely brought chaos in KC.

However, now as Patrick Mahomes mentioned that he is waiting for him and the others to come back in the games, this probably hints that there is a chance that the RB would return somewhere in the future in this season itself. Now it remains to be seen when he comes back!
