Is Patrick Mahomes the greatest QB in Chiefs history after this crucial win against the Raiders?

For Patrick Mahomes and his Kansas City Chiefs, the game against the Las Vegas Raiders was more than a means to extend their win streak. This is a rivalry that dates back to the 1960s and the 3x Super Bowl winner knows there’s little to no room for mistakes. Throughout the previous 6 games, the QB’s performance hasn’t been interesting, that is until now.

Mahomes was quick to praise his offense after a 27-20 win that propelled them to a 7-0 streak. He took the podium after the presser and decided to give the credit where it was due. Maybe all that red he saw entering into the Allegiant Stadium fired Mahomes up to get the dub.

“They have a lot of guys on that team that have a lot of pride in playing at home and playing in this stadium. We did a good job of executing. They made some plays, we made some plays and at the end of the day, we found a way to win,” Mahomes said in the post-game presser.

There were signs that the Chiefs offense is reviving. That’s because Travis Kelce scored the first touchdown of his season against the Raiders on National Tight End Day. But that’s not the only special thing that happened with the Chiefs in this SNF game. The 3x Super Bowl winner happened to complete 30k career yards in the game against the Raiders.

Talking about the offense, their $63.9 million investment gave an incredible ROI. Xavier Worthy and Kareem Hunt had touchdowns of their own as well. However, Mahomes’ 262-yard and two-touchdown performance was a tribute to the Kansas City Chiefs fans. They were deprived of seeing that magic lacking in his performance for a while now.

Patrick Mahomes addresses the support at the Allegiants Stadium

Mahomes acknowledged that the journey to the Allegiant Stadium had been a joyride. He was appalled by the amount of red he saw in the Stadium. In Mahomes’ eyes, he could see more red than black and silver and that’s the reason why he had to show some love to the fans who attended the game.

“The Chiefs Kingdom travels well,” Mahomes said. “It’s exciting to see whenever you can get into the stadium. And you’re in an opponent stadium. You see red everywhere and it shows the support that we have. We’ve gotten throughout my entire career and it’s a special place and I don’t take it for granted.”

With this game, Mahomes became the fastest quarterback in NFL history to reach 30k yards. This was his 103 game by the way. The Chiefs will be sitting comfortably at home as they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a week from now.
