Can Mahomes' advice to Witt Jr. spark a Royals' playoff run like the Chiefs' success?

The Kansas City Chiefs are no doubt having a great run so far in the season. Sitting at 4-0 before the week 5 game against the Saints. Every Chiefs fan would expect their team to maintain their streak. In the meantime, the Kansas City’s MLB franchise too is aiming for similar results like the Chiefs. Also, both the team’s star players Mahomes and Bobby Witt Jr. share a special bond.

During a recent press conference, Bobby Witt Jr. revealed the valuable advice he’s received from Patrick Mahomes as the Royals chase their postseason dreams. “He always just tells me the work you put in before the game, the preparation, that’s the biggest thing,” Witt shared. Mahomes’ mantra is simple but powerful. Stay true to yourself, avoid doing too much or too little, and be fully prepared. Witt added, “He tells me to just enjoy the game, control what you can, and trust the work you’ve done is good enough.”

The bond between Mahomes and Witt runs deep, rooted in their shared Texas upbringing and similar experiences as sons of professional athletes. While Mahomes carved out his NFL legacy with the Chiefs, Witt rocketed through the minors to become the Royals’ star. Despite playing different sports, they’ve formed a close friendship, with Mahomes regularly texting Witt throughout the season to offer support. As Mahomes put it, “He’s the right guy for the team. He understands it and does it the right way.”

Mahomes’ love for the Royals runs deeper than just being a part-owner. He admires Witt’s work ethic and shares his vision for bringing success to Kansas City, just as he has with the Chiefs. “This is what you dream about,” Witt said, as the Royals gear up for their postseason push.

Apparent as per the Chiefs records so far, things haven’t been all good for the Chiefs. The team too is facing injuries and performance problems. Mahomes has also faced difficulties at the start of the season but he and his team look to rectify them.

Despite the wins, injuries are starting to cast a shadow. Mahomes is facing tighter defenses this season, with opponents forcing the Chiefs into a more methodical, run-oriented approach. Still, the Chiefs’ defense has been a revelation, consistently keeping them in games, something the QB praised as “really good.”

Analysts are keeping an eye on Mahomes’ performance dips but have faith in his ability to bounce back. As the Chiefs navigate these challenges, the team’s depth and leadership will be crucial for their continued success.
