On the occasion of the Super Bowl LVIII Press Conference, players and coaches from the Kansas City Chiefs were seen taking on a storm of questions from news reporters. The franchise QB for the team, Patrick Mahomes, also took to the stand to answer as many questions as possible and one of them entailed his opinion on being a villain to the San Francisco 49ers. The Chiefs will face off against the 49ers for the Super Bowl trophy on February 12th, and Mahomes might just be the villain that the fans are making him out to be.

When asked about his thoughts on being a villain to the San Francisco 49ers, Mahomes said, “Not necessarily, I think I just like winning. If you win a lot, and that causes you to be a villain, then I’m okay with that. But at the end of the day, I’m gonna enjoy playing the game and win as much as possible.” Thus, the Chiefs have their tunnel vision ready for the final and the ultimate game of the season as Mahomes swats away all types of preconceived notions. Now that Mahomes is in pursuit of his 3rd Super Bowl win, here’s what he had to say about nearing Brady’s record of 7 Super Bowl rings.

Breaking Tom Brady’s record is still a long way to go, according to Mahomes

The ongoing debate of who is the better quarterback between Brady and Mahomes rages on. Brady, who retired in 2023, gave 23 years of his life to the sport and has over 7 Super Bowl rings to his name. Even though Mahomes has a long way to go, the fans still consider him as one of the only players to be the next Tom Brady, if not better. In response to having more rings than Brady someday, this is what Mahomes said.

Mahomes said, “I’m not even close to halfway. The goal is to be the best player you can be. I’ve been blessed to have a lot of great players around me, and right now it’s doing whatever I can to beat a great 49ers team and try to get that third ring. You ask me that question in like 15 years and I’ll see if I can get close to seven. Seven seems like a long way away still.” The 28-year-old has a lot more years of his career left and with the way the Chiefs has been performing, he just might be able to break Brady’s record.
