Patrick Mahomes and his family were celebrating a remarkable victory on-field. The Chiefs had just beaten the Bills to reach the Super Bowls for a third consecutive year. But the internet feels like a game you just can’t win on some days. Just ask Pat Mahomes Sr. He had suddenly found himself in the middle of a cyber fiasco. It started with a post. One that made the Bills fans see red. But that was unfortunately not the end of it.
Mahomes Sr. announced that he had fallen victim to hackers on Tuesday. His Instagram story read, “Haven’t been on Twitter/X in years. My account was hacked and I do not have access to it. Plz disregard any tweets from @pmahomes.” That wasn’t all. He also posted a public apology with a statement confirming that his X account had been compromised. “Sorry for the misunderstanding.” Mahomes Sr. wrote in the caption.
The image showed a text reading, “Attention: Patrick Mahomes Sr.’s X account has been compromised. The Mahomes family holds the utmost respect for the @BuffaloBills organization and the #BillsMafia fan base. We are actively working to resolve this issue. Thank you for your understanding.” So, what exactly did the supposed imposter post?

The Chiefs had just pulled off a dramatic 32-29 win over the Bills. And Mahomes Sr. appeared to mock Bills fans with a post. “Today is a great day to not be from Buffalo…” the post read. That didn’t sit well with many. Bills fans were fuming. Especially since this wasn’t Mahomes Sr.’s first victory lap at an opponent’s expense.
He did something even more atrocious after the 2023 AFC title game. He was seen smoking a “Joe Burrow” cigar. And the tradition continued even in 2024, as it was a “special blend Lamar Jackson” at that time. But things spiraled towards a different angle this time.
Pat Sr.’s statement emphasized that the Mahomes family respects the Bills and their fanbase. But the timing? Suspicious. Was it really a hacker, or just a social media blunder gone wrong? Either way, it put Mahomes Sr. in an awkward spot.
A family celebration amid chaos
Patrick Mahomes had a more personal focus while the social media drama was unfolding. He was celebrating with his family. The victory seemed even more emotional for the family. Mahomes’s maternal grandfather’s move into hospice care just days before the Chiefs’ big win made the victory even more emotional.
Mahomes shared the moment with his closest loved ones after the final whistle. Randi, his father, brother Jackson, and half-sister Mia were all there. And so was Brittany, after giving birth to their third child on Jan 12. Confetti rained down as they posed for a photo captioned “SUPERBOWL TIME!!!” Brittany Mahomes also had a message for critics.

“Thank you all for your concerns with 15 this season,” she wrote on Instagram. “See y’all in New Orleans.” Moreover, Patrick echoed the sentiment. He posted, “See y’all in New Orleans! ⏰” Now, the Chiefs gear up for Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles. And Mahomes Sr.’s social media saga takes the backseat.
The focus is squarely on history. The Chiefs have reached 5 Super Bowls in 6 years. They’ve won the last two. Can Kansas City become the first team to win three straight Super Bowls? One thing seems clear amid all the chaos. The Mahomes family will be front and center when February 9 rolls around. And they seem ready for another unforgettable night.
