They know us, and we know them…..It’s going to be a heavyweight battle.” With this, Kansas City Chiefs defensive end George Karlaftis didn’t mean a WWE fight, but perhaps something close to it. He was clear that both teams are strong and equally talented. Hence, the rivalry will be a tough and physical battle. The Chiefdom’s captain, Patrick Mahomes, thinks the same. But still, he considers himself lucky to be on the right side. How?

On Wednesday, Patrick Mahomes had an interview with the media. During this session, he was asked about his stance that ‘every year at the end of the camp’ he says that he is lucky enough to not go against Steve Spagnuolo’s defense. To which, the quarterback expressed, “I mean you see it when we play, it’s just everything looks so similar. But then he has so many different variety of coverages and blitzes and different things that he can do and so you can never get a feel for what he’s going to call, because he’ll just throw in random coverages and stuff like that every single series.”

Hence, Patrick Mahomes thinks, “It’s hard to prepare for. It’s hard to go up against and like I said, I’m glad I don’t have to do it during the regular season but it prepares me for the season because I have to kind of be the Mastermind I go up against all training camp.” That experience helps him prepare for tough matchups like the one coming up against the Bills.

That is Josh Allen’s tough fate this weekend. He can run from it, he can hide from it, but it is coming for him. According to FOX Sports, the Chiefs are ranked 9 in terms of NFL defense with 320.6 yards allowed per game. Whereas, the Bills are at 17, with 341.5 yards allowed per game. This stat suggests the Chiefs indeed have a better defensive line than the Bills. But let’s not forget that in the divisional round against the Ravens, the Bills’s defense drowned out the naysayers who doubted their ability to stop Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, and the rest of their offense. Of course, they got a helping hand from Mark Andrews but they did enough to get the win. But still, it’s the shocking fact that the Chiefs haven’t scored over 30 points in a single game even once this season yet feature in the Championship game that highlights their frightening defensive prowess.

Until then, Patrick Mahomes has a demand from his locker room to secure the AFC Championship.

During the same presser, the QB shared his deep appreciation for Arrowhead Stadium, describing it as a fully special and iconic place. He explained how stepping into the stadium immediately gives you a sense of its history and the greatness of the players who have performed there. This energy fuels the team and motivates them to give their all on the field. Besides this, Mahomes also highlighted how incredible the Chiefs’ fans are.
