Can Mahomes' Chiefs achieve a 3-peat, or is he just dreaming without a Brady-like rival?

Patrick Mahomes‘ has a strong vision for  Chiefs‘ 3-peat dreams! Star QB Patrick Mahomes has entered his eighth season with the Chiefs this year. Despite the path being rife with challenges, due to key offensive players sustaining injuries, Mahomes believes that a third straight title would be “legendary.” For this, he is drawing motivation from iconic athletes in sports history, particularly Tiger Woods.

In a candid interview on “The Drive” on 610 Sports Radio in Kansas City, Mahomes once again expressed his intense admiration for golf legend Tiger Woods. When asked if he would rather play at Augusta National Golf Club or with Tiger Woods at Pebble Beach, Mahomes made his choice without hesitation.

Mahomes added, “I feel like it’s cheating because I’ve played Augusta a couple times now.” He continued, “So I would play with Tiger because I haven’t played with Tiger yet. I got to see what Tiger’s like in person, having got to meet him. And I want to ask him about some of the stuff that he did, how he dominated for so long.”

As Mahomes further described Augusta, he called it “everything that it’s advertised to be,” with its rich history and legacy. He often imagines that “every time I’m at a spot, I’m like, Bubba Watson hit one here, or Tiger Woods hit one here. It’s a magical place as a fan of golf.” Previously, he spoke of his fascination with Woods, saying, “And I think if you look at golfers like Tiger Woods, I mean he swung those swings so many times that he knows exactly how to swing and hit the shot perfectly.”

With a similar focus on his capabilities, Mahomes now wants the Chiefs to target the three-peat this season. As UConn basketball coach Dan Hurley remarked, “Winning three in a row… constitutes a dynasty.” To date, no NFL team has clinched three straight Super Bowls, and Mahomes wants the Chiefs to follow Woods’ principles to solidify their hopes.

However, NFL analyst Jason Whitlock has been critical of Mahomes, as he discussed in a recent interview.

Whitlock criticizes Chiefs and Mahomes’ drive amidst 3-peat dreams

What’s your perspective on:

Can Mahomes' Chiefs achieve a 3-peat, or is he just dreaming without a Brady-like rival?

Have an interesting take?

For Whitlock, Mahomes is not yet on the same level as Tom Brady, Tiger Woods, or Michael Jordan. While he acknowledges that Mahomes may “go down in history as one of the top 10 quarterbacks, maybe top 5 of all time… But he does not have Tom Brady’s drive.” While Whitlock calls Mahomes a super-talented guy, he believes Mahomes lacks Brady’s intensity and is having a mediocre season, particularly because he does not have a peer to compete with.

But, what makes Patrick Mahomes special, though, is that he is a young phenom like Woods. Even Shannon Sharpe has likened Mahomes to Tiger Woods in his prime at the Masters. As time unfolds, it remains to be seen how Mahomes and the Chiefs will pursue their goals this season.
