Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes indeed had a rough February! With the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIX losing to the Philadelphia Eagles (40-22), Mahomes stepped up to take responsibility for the same. Just a few days later, Mahomes’ maternal grandfather, Randy Mahomes, passed away at age 78, as he attended his funeral in Henderson, Texas. As he faced such distressing moments, Patrick Mahomes finally had some reliving moments at his alma mater in Texas recently.

Patrick Mahomes recently took to visit Lubbock, Texas, with his wife Brittany Mahomes, to avidly support Texas Tech. Receiving a warm welcome from the team, Starcade Media tweeted, “Patrick and Brittany #Mahomes in Lubbock tonight cheering on the #RedRaiders #gunsup.

According to the X post shared by Starcade Media, the couple were greeted with a “rousing ovation” from Red Raiders fans at United Supermarkets Arena. Mahomes is a proud Texas Tech alumnus, and he shared a glimpse of his outfit on Instagram. It is a red and black jacket with the Texas Tech University logo that highlights his connection to the Red Raiders. It was a historic spell with them that pushed him on his way to becoming an NFL superstar. The QB and his dear wife once again embraced their alma mater with their recent presence.

The QB who is a Texas Tech alum (2014-2016), attended the high-stakes Big 12 showdown. In this game, No. 10 Texas Tech Red Raiders played against the No. 4 Houston Cougars. Mahomes had announced a surprise visit.

Pleased at the moment, Texas Tech Athletics tweeted enthusiastically on X, writing, “Back home ⏰.” As Mahomes donned the Texas Tech jacket, Brittany Mahomes was also wearing Red Raiders colors, with a red coat and black pants. Even Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark was also present during the game, as he was sitting across Mahomes, close to the TV broadcast table.

MLF football also cheered his latest presence in Texas, writing, “#Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes is in good spirits only a couple of weeks after losing the Super Bowl.” It indeed helped a great deal in uplifting Mahomes’ spirits.

However, despite his eclectic presence, Texas Tech lost 69-61 to Houston. While Patrick Mahomes’ was disappointed with the loss, he was still very supportive of his alma mater team, cheering them through and through.  It must have been a relief to them to get a warm reception after a recent scare. Well, a mildly funny scare where guests at their eldest daughter’s birthday party made their kids cry. Not just any guests, ones that were specially invited and in costume… that of the kids’ favorite cartoons.

On February 20, 2025, Patrick and Brittany Mahomes took to celebrate their daughter Sterling Skye’s fourth birthday. Throwing off a pink flamingo-themed party, Patrick fulfilled his daughter’s special request. The party featured Bingo and Bluey mascots, but it did not go as planned. On the arrival of the mascots, however, things took a turn, as it left Sterling and her younger brother Bronze terrified.

Brittany, took to her Instagram to post humorously, “Ster said she wanted Bingo and Bluey… Resulted in this (laughing emoji).” The party was a hit despite everything, as Sterling enjoyed sweet treats, ball pits, and fun moments. Brittany even called Sterling “the sweetest, most kind little girl ever.” The Bluey-themed party with the hairstyling session, and a pool party was indeed a hit despite the kids’ meltdowns.
