In the rivalry between the Chiefs and the Jaguars, the two teams have faced off 16 times, including 1 postseason game. Despite the Jaguars winning 6 games, the Chiefs have emerged victorious in 10 matchups, showcasing their superiority in the series.

Similarly, the Chiefs have dominated their series against the Commanders, winning 10 out of 11 games played. This impressive record underscores the Chiefs’ ability to maintain their winning momentum against different opponents. Patrick Mahomes plays a crucial role in the Chiefs’ success. On October 17, 2021, against Washington, he completed 68.1% of his passes for 397 yards and 2 touchdowns, leading the team to victory despite a few interceptions and sacks.

In addition to Mahomes, the Chiefs boast a talented roster of players who contribute to their winning efforts. Despite efforts from the Commanders and Jaguars to dethrone the Chiefs, they have struggled to find a winning formula against the reigning AFC champions. Changes in coaching staff and roster adjustments have not been enough to overcome the Chiefs’ dominance on the field.

Eric Bieniemy’s transition from Chiefs to Commanders

Eric Bieniemy, the former offensive coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs, has been with the Washington Commanders for a year now.  Bieniemy told ESPN, “When you’ve been in a place for 10 years, you have a tendency to take certain things for granted. This has helped me to go back and dot all the I’s and cross all the T’s.” During his tenure with the Chiefs, Bieniemy played a crucial role in the team’s offensive strategy, contributing to their success on the field. His experience with a championship-winning team has provided him with valuable insights.

Eric also spoke about the differences in coaching and player dynamics between the two teams. He said in Kansas City they had a cohesive coaching staff and a group of players who were all on the same page. In Washington, they are still in the process of building that cohesion, But he is confident that they will get there. Under Eric, in a game against the Eagles, the Chiefs scored 38 points (31 from the offense), had no turnovers, and weren’t sacked. They scored on every drive in the second half to win 38-35, overcoming a 10-point halftime deficit.

While the Chiefs already boast a strong organizational culture and a winning mentality, the Commanders are in the process of building a new identity under the new leadership of Eric Bieniemy.
