It’s week 16 of the league. And the Chiefs won their 14th game. The Texans couldn’t give much competition to the AFC conference leaders. With Patrick Mahomes back to his full form, the Chiefs were the favorites at Arrowhead. Not only did he lead his teammates to a victory, he also shut down all the rumors about his ankle injury. It’s mind blowing. HC Andy Reid was also impressed.

During the post-game conference, the coach claimed that the QB playing through injury sets an example for others to follow. It also clears his stand that he wants others to follow. Mahomes said, “I ask a lot from the guys around me; I feel like if I’m going to ask them to play through pain, if I’m going to ask them to play through little nicks and bruises and stuff like that, I’ve got to do it as well. That’s something I pride myself on, is being out there with my guys and playing football.” Against Texans, the QB had 28 of 41 passes (68.3% completion rate) in 260 yards with 1 touchdowns.

However, Patrick Mahomes didn’t restrict himself to the passing game only. Even in the rushing department, he had 5 attempts for 33 yards with 1 touchdown. That’s where they blocked the Texans. The visitors only recorded 17 attempts for 84 yards, while the home team was ahead with 28 attempts for 124 yards with 2 touchdowns.

The Chiefs schedule had 3 games in 11 days. And they have won 2 of those. Chiefdom is now waiting for the next matchup against Steelers on Christmas. The Grim Reaper was also excited and said, “I mean that one it kind of just hurt just the walk in general whereas now I can kind of move around walking and stuff like that and now was just try to get it even better for this next game. I mean, we’re playing a good football team a great defense.

Even the HC was amazed at his QB’s performance. He didn’t expect him to go out in such a way. But that’s what he does.

Andy Reid praises Patrick Mahomes after week 16 win

The Chiefs head coach showed his respect for the Grim Reaper in the post-game conference and mentioned, “I didn’t think he’d be able to get out and run like that. He did a great job with all the mindset right from the get-go that he was going to be out there and going. He didn’t miss a rep.” Patrick Mahomes’ act would give confidence to the locker room as well.

They need it too ahead of their Christmas game. During the Texans matchup, the Chiefs’ DT Chris Jones, LB Jack Cochrane, and RT Jawaan Taylor suffered injuries. Though Jones’ MRI came out negative, the team will have to limit its injuries.

With the 27-19 win, the team’s win-loss record is now 14-1. Though they are at the top of the AFC conference, they would want to win the remaining 2 games too. Andy Reid is happy with how things are going. But they are cautious. That’s the right approach.
