Will Patrick Mahomes consider having a career in golf? The Chiefs QB is always out swinging clubs in the offseason, casually showing up at celebrity golf tournaments. And then there was The Match. You remember that one, surely? The one in which he and Travis Kelce took down Steph Curry and Klay Thompson? So when he shares a glimpse into his off-season grind or drops some fresh new kicks, you can’t help but wonder: Is this just a hobby or something brewing for the future?
Recently, Patrick Mahomes and Adidas dropped a fresh pair of golf kicks, and you know it’s not just any release. The new collection, inspired by the Chiefs star’s love for golf, dropped right ahead of the 2025 Masters Tournament. Sneakerheads and golf fans are buzzing, especially after Sneaker News posted the collaboration with the caption, “Does Pat Mahomes have a future in golf after he retires from the NFL?“
The Mahomes 2 Impact FLX, also called the Adidas Mahomes 2, isn’t designed for the golf course but is built for practicing on turf. You can find the Mahomes 2 Impact FLX on Adidas’s website, priced at $150. With the drop going live, Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden also shared the release on his story with a simple but intriguing “Mahomes…Golf,” tagging both Patrick and Adidas Golf. Mahomes even reshared the post, but of course, there’s no comment from him on whether golf is actually in his future. Does not saying something reveal more than saying something here?

So, if you’re planning to attend the Masters Tournament this week, there’s a good chance you might bump into NFL star Patrick Mahomes. His love for golf might just bring him there, just like it does for many other top athletes. And since he’s the inspiration behind the new Adidas “Fairway” edition, it’s not far-fetched to hope that he’ll be there, too. God knows some of his fellow athletes are excited to turn up already!

But on the flip side, Mahomes is recovering from a tough loss at the Superbowl. So, while he’s got his new kicks ready for the turf, Patrick is also getting himself ready for the 2025 season.
Patrick Mahomes’ grind through the offseason raises TE question
The Chiefs’ loss to the Eagles was a major blow for them. After winning almost all the games in the regular season and playoffs, they blew the one game that could have earned them the novel crown of a three-peat. But they can’t change what’s done. So, Mahomes, after the big loss, is now preparing himself for the upcoming season. The proof? The Chiefs star has been posting his practice videos since March.

What’s your perspective on:
Is Patrick Mahomes' golf passion a sign of a future career shift post-NFL?
Have an interesting take?
On Wednesday, Mahomes shared another clip from the field, this time throwing passes with TE Robert Tonyan. Robert, who signed with Kansas City last December, was featured in the video with the caption, “Back at it ⏰,” by Mahomes. Robert also reposted it on his story, writing, “work.” This raises an interesting question about the Chiefs’ TE situation: Could Tonyan be making a push for the TE1 spot? Or is this just a random practice session?
Travis Kelce announced that he’ll be returning for another season. But the question remains: Will the team give him another shot after he posted career lows? Meanwhile, Tonyan, who sits as the third TE on the Chiefs’ depth chart behind Kelce and Noah Gray, isn’t wasting any time. He’s already getting in the practice reps with Mahomes. Naturally, this raises questions about Kelce’s role with the Kansas-based outfit going forward. Will Kelce’s last dance go down as him simply taking a backseat to other TEs, or will he prove he’s still got plenty left to contribute?
