Home/NFL

We’re once again back to the Tom Brady vs. Patrick Mahomes saga. The Chiefs QB is on the verge of writing history with a potential three-peat on the line -something no NFL team has ever done. With the Chiefs writing a new history with Mahomes as the QB, people have started to ask: Could he be the greatest? Cue the comparisons to the legendary Tom Brady, the guy who’s the gold standard for NFL greatness. Over his 23-year career, Brady appeared in 10 Super Bowls and walked away with seven rings. Woah! That’s quite the legacy.

Speaking of Brady, one of his former teammates has made a bold claim. He thinks the Chiefs are on the verge of achieving something even Tom Brady hasn’t. But onto that later. For now, Patrick Mahomes has dropped his thoughts on Brady. On Wednesday, the Chiefs QB had a brief chat with The Drive host Carrington Harrison. And as most of you know, the former Pats QB will be calling the Super Bowl game alongside Kevin Burkhardt. The host, Carrington, asked Mahomes how he feels about that. “I think it’s cool,” Mahomes said, adding, “He’s a player that he was. And I mean the relationship I’ve built with him is kind of a friendship now, and someone that I can talk to and listen to their advice from and know that he’s done it all the right way.”

But that’s not it. Patrick hopes the Chiefs win this game so that someday in the future, he can rewatch it with his kids. Imagine him telling Sterling, Bronze, and Golden, ‘Hey, that’s Tom Brady breaking down your dad’s plays during his third Super Bowl win.’ How cool would that be? “Hopefully, we can find a way to get a win. And have the GOAT be the one they go to -the person calling the football game,” added Patrick.

It’s pretty clear -Mahomes sees Brady as the GOAT. No matter all the comparisons, the Chiefs QB has nothing but respect for him. Now, back to what Brady’s ex-teammate had to say.

Adam Vinatieri weighs in on the Tom Brady vs. Patrick Mahomes debate

Could Mahomes and the Chiefs surpass Brady's legacy with a historic three-peat? What do you think?

Have an interesting take?

Tom Brady, with his outstandingly successful career, set the bar incredibly high for other QBs. Till now, no other quarterback has come close to what he’s achieved. Even the Chiefs QB, Patrick Mahomes, is still pretty far from matching the Pats legend’s career milestones. But one of Brady’s former teammates thinks that might not be the case for much longer. Adam Vinatieri, the former placekicker for the Patriots, believes Mahomes is building a legacy that could rival Brady’s.

I cringe to say that because I’ve been around some of the best players, and best quarterbacks in the history of the NFL and I love Tom and Peyton. I’ve never played with Patrick, but I can only assume if you’re his teammate, you feel exactly the same way about him as I feel about those guys.” Vinatieri spent his first ten years in the league with the Pats. Those were the same years Tom Brady was rising to fame. So Adam knows a thing or two about what greatness looks like.

The 52-year-old believes if Patrick Mahomes manages to secure the three-peat this time, he’ll achieve something even Brady hasn’t. And he’s right. While Tom Brady got super close, no QB in NFL history has ever pulled off three consecutive Super Bowl wins. “I’ve always said, Tom’s got seven Super Bowls, until someone does something that he hasn’t, he’s still the man. But we’re getting to something even Tom, even the great Tom Brady, and Bill Belichick, and that team has not done.”

So, will Patrick be successful in pulling this off? Guess we’ll find out in a few days.
