Roger Goodell is on the mission to push the NFL’s yearly revenue to about 25 billion by next year. To make the feat possible, the commissioner has already taken huge strides in the past and now, he’s spicing things up even more. It was apparent when the Chiefs’ 2024 schedule was made public. Patrick Mahomes and the squad have 16 toughest schedule in the league.

Shannon Sharpe and Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson picked up on the Chiefs schedule and some interesting things came to light. Apparently, this is one of the toughest schedules that any NFL team has faced in nearly a century (since 1927’s New York Football Yankees led by Red Grange). This move from Rodger Goodell will create challenges for the team and may even deter their 3-peat chances. However, this move is expected to bring in a rise in profit and engagement.

The Chiefs’ schedule was released, and it became clear as day that this season might be gruesome for the Kansas City team. Why? Because the team has a game scheduled on every day except Tuesday. Apart from 11 Sunday games, Patrick Mahomes is set to play two games on Monday, a game each on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Seeing to this, Ocho pointed out something interesting.

“Do you think the NFL is ruining a potential three peat by trying to capitalize on the Taylor Swift attendance?” asked Ocho. Shannon Sharpe pointed out how NFL is a profit driven business and is constantly working on making more profits. To do so, Goodell got streaming services like Amazon, YouTube TV and Netflix involved.

“Now in the process, these streaming services, games on Christmas are going to be streamed on Netflix.” Said Unc and added, “These streaming services want to be taken seriously. What’s the way to be taken seriously? ‘I got to have live events. Let me get me an NFL game. NFL we’ll give you $100 million-$150 million for one game.’”

Shannon Sharpe’s estimate hit the nail because, according to some sources, the NFL has a deal with Netflix to stream at least one game on Christmas Day. It can also be two games. For all we know, the streaming giant has two back-to-back prime time games lined up on Christmas.

According to a report from Bloomberg, Netflix agreed on a 3-season deal with NFL and is set to pay about $150 million for the broadcasting rights of the game. The games can be streamed globally, and no restrictions have been pointed out yet. This year, the two games schedule for Christmas are the Pittsburgh Steelers Vs. the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens taking on the Houston Texans.

Concentrating on Netflix, some analysts believe that this is the streaming giants’ effort to foray into sports broadcasting, something that Netflix has been avoiding for a while. But over the years there have been reports of Netflix’ dwindling fanbase and this NFL deal might just direct more people to tap into the streaming services once again.

The 3-season deal is mostly exclusive to Netflix, except for the fans in competing home cities, where the games will be available on TV. What do you think about this deal? Let us know below.
