Patrick Mahomes has revealed that he and his star kicker do not talk much. The Kansas City Chiefs’ victory on Sunday, coming in overtime, was remarkable. Although the entire team worked together to win the Super Bowl, a significant amount of credit goes to someone who consistently contributed with his kicks during the season. Harrison Butker was exceptional at the Super Bowl in Las Vegas. He kicked two field goals from more than 50 yards at Allegiant Stadium.
In Tuesday’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show, QB Patrick Mahomes appeared as a guest, discussing his Super Bowl victory and his relationship with Harrison Butker. Surprisingly, Mahomes revealed that he does not talk to Butker “all year long.” The 28-year-old quarterback stated, “Honestly, I don’t talk to Harrison all year long man I just let him do his thing. But I know if I can just cross that 40 man, if I cross that 40 he’s going to put it through there. I know if you saw in the game, I got a little pressure, threw it short, and knew Harrison was going to knock it through.”
After hearing this, McAfee and his team were astounded, and the former NFL punter inquired whether the three-time Super Bowl champ said “hello jeez” to Butker. The Chiefs star quarterback smiled and responded, “We sit right beside each other in team meetings, and I don’t say one word to him. Only before the season and after the season. That’s the only time I talk to him.“

The team’s two-star players don’t talk to each other but still maintain a strong connection on the field because they have faith in each other. Nevertheless, Butker has done an incredible job this season, even breaking his own record for the highest number of field goal yards. And that’s the reason Mahomes was talking about Butker on the show.

Harrison Butker was outstanding throughout the season, especially in Super Bowl LVIII. According to Field Yates on X, Butker capped off an impressive season where he made 44 out of 46 on all field goal attempts, including all 15 from over 40 yards and all seven from over 50 yards.
Butker’s stats for the season are remarkable. He made 95.7% of all field goals, including two from 50+ yards in the Super Bowl, and he achieved the longest field goal in Super Bowl history at 57 yards. In fact, the previous record of 55 yards was set just one quarter earlier by San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody. But before them, Steve Christie’s record for a 54-yard field goal for the Bills had stood since Super Bowl 28.
