Just a few weeks after bidding goodbye to the college football season, Pat McAfee is already back in action with the NFL Combine. On Wednesday, the former Colts punter was seen delivering a passionate speech to the special team prospects at the Combine and even offered advice from his own playing days. He also praised the specialists, who were working out at the combine a day before the full event started. On the same day, McAfee also delivered an update on the NFL future of his longtime friend Aaron Rodgers but that was not all.

Aaron Rodgers’ future has been speculated heavily ever since his unceremonious exit from the Jets. The talk of retirement has been whispered while some have linked the 41-year-old veteran with a surprising move. On his show, McAfee confirmed that Rodgers is “currently out of the country,” and gave an insight into his next possible destination in the league. But before that, the former All-Pro punter turned broadcaster has come up with a special announcement for fans in Pittsburgh something he promises has never been done before.

Talking on his show, the 37-year-old mentioned, “We have a massive show in an arena in Pittsburgh coming up. I put together a show that I don’t think has ever been done before. It’s gonna be tough to describe. But, just know it’s gonna be a big night in Pittsburgh. Date to be announced. Ticket sales coming soon, but, within the next couple of months.”

It looks like McAfee has something big planned and it looks like he is drawing from his experience in WWE to cook something special for the fans in Pittsburgh.

“I get to work with the WWE. So, it’s like watching what they do in an arena show-wise. I get the best seat in the house, I get to look around. I watch wrestling obviously so incredibly lucky, but then I just watch the people and their reactions and it is awesome and what you can do with those things and what WWE does for people and how and how you can make a show,” he explained.

The fans in Pittsburgh might truly get to experience a fully immersive show that might be more or less similar to how WWE does things.

Meanwhile, McAfee also had a field day with the players preparing for the NFL Combine at the Lucas Oil Stadium.  He was full of praise for the players sweating it out ahead of their pro careers and had some advice for them as well.

“Consistency is the only thing that matters. 32 jobs. That’s a tough number to get into, crack into. Just be consistent with the kickers… The International lads showing up the way you did, great work. To the American boys: Let’s keep it rolling,” McAfee said.

The NFL Combine began on February 27 and will run until March 2 and features some of the best talents in the country with the likes of  Colorado’s two-way star Travis Hunter, Ole Miss’s Jaxson Dart, and Texans QB Quinn Ewers among the top prospects. McAfee also had words of wisdom for the players from his own playing days.

“If I could go back and talk to me, I’d say, ‘Hey, hit the jugs machine. Get your hands as good as possible.’ because your leg will be able to keep up with everybody,” he said. Having watched and analyzed these players all year last season, it must have been special for McAfee and CFB fans to see him on the field with them.

McAfee also confirmed that Aaron Rodgers, a consistent guest on “The Pat McAfee Show”, will be making a return to his show. Talking about Rodgers, the former punter said, “Aaron, from our sources, is currently out of the country. When he gets back, possibly next week, will join the program.”

This seems like an interesting development given how the Jets had given Rodgers an ultimatum over his appearances on ESPN’s show.

When the Jets’ head coach hiring saga began, former Jets coach Rex Ryan, who badly wanted the job, didn’t mince his words. Bashing Rodgers for missing minicamp, Ryan said, “Clearly, when you have a guy that doesn’t show up for mandatory minicamp. And by the way, he’s your quarterback coming off an injury. I think that’s a ridiculous message you send to the team.” The QB was vacationing in Egypt at the time of the mini-practice camp.

Fast forward to the second week of February this year – the Jets reportedly had two conditions for Rodgers if he were to continue his journey with the team. Condition number one: No vacationing during the team’s practice camps and mandatory attendance at all practice sessions. And condition number two was, ‘no outside media appearances, including The Pat McAfee Show, where Rodgers often made appearances.’ Well, it looks like the 41-year-old decided to be free from all these shackles and hence parted ways with the Jets.

As for his NFL future, McAfee had some interesting insights about that as well.

Aaron Rodgers’ interest in the Rams

The 2024 season had been a nightmare for Aaron Rodgers. First, the QB couldn’t manage to put wins in the team’s column. Then he was blamed for being the driving force behind HC Robert Saleh‘s firing. Since then, the Jets have decided to move on, which begs the question, of what is next for the veteran QB.

“I did ask about the Rams situation to our sources, ‘open to everything and attached to nothing.’ Big fan of Sean McVay, though. I don’t know what all goes and what doesn’t, but I think right now everyone is trying to figure it out. Aaron Rodgers is open to everything, attached to nothing. Potential retirement too,” McAfee revealed.

The Rams might have to part ways with their Super Bowl-winning QB Matthew Stafford after allowing him to explore trade options. If they do say goodbye to Stafford, they’ll need a QB. And for now, Rodgers could buy them a year or two to think about their next move. So, what’s going to unfold in this crazy NFL town? Stay tuned to find out!
