If there were two Comeback Player of the Year awards, Joe Flacco would have received one, alongside Damar Hamlin. Flacco’s NFL career has been interesting, especially this season. And Pat McAfee is taking time to appreciate the 38-year-old star quarterback of the Cleveland Browns, giving a short glimpse of his noticeable growth.

The Browns are hosting the New York Jets on Thursday, December 28, at Cleveland Browns Stadium. This matchup is important to win for the Browns as after defeating the Jets, they could clinch a playoff berth again after 2020. But the most exciting part about this game is the player from Delaware, who got a bow from McAfee.

A few minutes into the game, former NFL punter Pat McAfee tweeted about the rising stardom of the Browns’ new QB, Joe Flacco. He wrote, “This Joe Flacco thing is just remarkable.. he goes from the couch.. begging for jobs.. to being top 3 QB in the league 😂😂 LET’S GOOOOO JOE.”

Flacco previously played for the Jets before joining the Browns. Following his release from New York in 2022, the former Ravens QB became a free agent and waited for a team. He even began this year without a team until the Browns approached him.

Flacco joined the Browns’ practice squad on November 20. Since then, he has started in four games and has guided his team to three wins and one upset. He is now considered one of the top QBs of this season because of his legendary performances, such as throwing for 1,307 yards in just four games, which is more than any other quarterback.

This time, he is playing against his former team, the Jets, and many believe that this game will be a “revenge” game for Flacco.

Joe Flacco had a disappointing three-year spell in New York from 2020 to 2022 and was not re-signed by the Jets at the start of this season. Despite the challenges, Flacco expressed his contentment with his current team, the Browns. Ahead of the Jets vs. Browns game, it was said that this battle would be “revenge” for Flacco over his former team.

When asked, Flacco replied he sees this game as just another game of the regular season and nothing that special. He said, “There’s 32 teams in the NFL. They’re just another one. I got a lot of guys over there I really respect and had an awesome few years in that locker room. So a lot of respect for those guys.” Flacco added, “I enjoyed my time while I was there, and it is what it is. I’m happy to be where I am, that’s for sure.
