How does it feel to play in Germany? The Panthers did not have an answer to that last year. 5 teams were selected to play in Europe. The Panthers did not make the cut. But after 2024, they will be able to give you an answer. That’s right. The Panthers may finally get their chance to play in front of a non-American audience.
However, it’s not happening out of the blue. The Panthers went 2-15 this year. Not a record to be proud of! But they had been prepping for this opportunity since 2022. And now they’ve finally got it!
Carolina Panthers to go international!

A big announcement was recently made on Instagram. Before the 2023 season has even ended, the Panthers have already won themselves an international game. Five teams are usually selected to play in other countries. And the names of four have been announced. While three of those will share London, Germany goes to the Panthers alone.

Where will they be playing? At the Allianz Arena. It also is the home of FC Bayern Munich, one of the best German soccer clubs. However, the date and who they will be playing against have not yet been revealed. David Tepper took immense pride in this and said, “It’s an honor for the Carolina Panthers to play in Munich in 2024.”
He added that since a lot of German-owned companies are based in the team’s home city, it’s a special opportunity for him. But how did they manage to bag this chance?
Panthers’ partnership with Eintracht Frankfurt
The seeds had already been sown in 2022. The squad had entered into a partnership with Eintracht Frankfurt. Why? They wanted to promote not just their team, but the entire NFL in Germany. And it’s all part of Rodger Goodell’s ambitions. He wants to see the NFL rake in $27 billion in revenue by 2025. What would be the best way to do that? Expanding football’s appeal to other countries seems like the perfect strategy.

How did they kick off the shiny new partnership? The Panthers had organized a watch party at the stadium. A watch party of what? The Super Bowl LVII in February 2023. The President of the team, Kristi Coleman, outlined how it had helped the team. It profited a “unique and memorable experience” for Panthers fans. What’s more, it also helped grow their fan base in Germany.
