You can’t say the Panthers owner is not passionate about his team! The Carolina Panthers are at the bottom of the league right now. And on Sunday, they are set to take on the leaders of their division. A recipe for disaster? Looks like it. Even if they end up losing this game, they will not get a first-round pick in 2024. They already traded away their pick to the Chicago Bears.

And amidst this gloom and doom scenario, David Tepper is trying to fix his team. So, will his recent endeavor succeed? Or are the Panthers beyond all help?

The Panthers came under Tepper in 2018. And since then, he’s going coach-hunting for the third time. His latest casualty was Frank Reich, who was fired on November 27. Since then, Chris Tabor has taken over the reins of the team as interim HC. But the team can’t go on with a temporary option forever.

He had promoted Frank Reich and his predecessor, Matt Rhule, from within the franchise. But it seems he has finally decided to recruit external help. Tepper has enlisted the help of a “consulting firm Sportsology, headed by former Chelsea FC exec. Mike Forde.” And it’s not like he’s taking a shot in the dark.

The firm had already helped Tepper’s football team, Charlotte FC, with finding their coach. Recently, the owner was also involved in a controversy. But that only goes to show that he has reached the limits of his patience with the team’s performance.

Tepper throws a drink at a Jags fan

The Jacksonville Jaguars had humiliated the Panthers in a blowout loss. The Jags managed to score 26 points. The Panthers? They sat at duck throughout the entire game. Agitated by this defeat, Tepper threw a drink at a Jacksonville fan sitting in front of him. Did the NFL let him go unscathed? Not so easily.

The owner was fined a hefty $300,000. And the NFL did not let him go after merely extracting the fine. He publicly apologized for his actions. He also explained his actions and said that he was very passionate about his team. Tepper further stated that his actions were not warranted. “I respect the NFL’s code of conduct and accept the League’s discipline for my behavior.”
