After the Packers’ loss to the Eagles, the team has been under hot water! While Jordan Love’s knee injury has probably sidelined him for three to six weeks, the team is in a tight spot. They are now stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to their backup options. While Malik Willis is eyeing to hit the gridiron in Love’s absence, a former NFL player seems dicey about him.

On Friday’s Stinkin’ Truth Podcast with Mark Schlereth, the former Broncos guard raised eyebrows at Malik Willis. The radio sportscaster emphasized on Packers‘ schedule for upcoming weeks and Love’s unavailability. He said, “Well, how many weeks is he out?”

Even though early reports suggest Jordan Love could make a quicker comeback, the glaring issue remains—without an experienced quarterback, the team is skating on thin ice. The three-time Super Bowl champion also noted how the Packers got Willis on August 22 or 23, and he is as green as grass. He said on the Stinkin’ Truth Podcast, “So not only do you get a guy that has not proven that he can have success in this league, but you got a guy that just has been there for a couple of weeks.” As for now, the 58-year-old is concerned about the weaker stretch of their schedule.

As per Schlereth, the team has upcoming games with Indianapolis, Tennessee, Minnesota, and then some other good teams. While the team can survive the next three weeks, a veteran QB can give peace of mind, without leaving the team hanging.

He believes that Love won’t be playing for at least two or three weeks. While people think that the QB will return to gridiron soon, deep down, everyone is bothered by more. Let’s talk the real deal—the four-time Super Bowl-winning team has got a problem on their hands.

Is Malik Willis the right choice to replace Jordan Love?

Malik Willis stepped into the spotlight as the Packers’ starting quarterback after Jordan Love’s MCL sprain. While the player possesses dual-threat ability to run and pass, there’s still a question mark about his experience as a passer. And is he really good enough to fill those big shoes? The player’s athleticism is exciting, sure, but when the pressure’s on, will he be able to deliver? That’s the real exam, and it’s what everyone is waiting to see.

Now, let’s talk about what Willis brings to the table. The former Titans QB has a cannon for an arm and can make magic happen with his legs, but his accuracy and decision-making skills are still up for debate. On the other hand, Love had a breakout 2023 season. He not only threw for over 4,000 yards but also scored 32 touchdowns. Now that’s quite impressive!

Love has already proved he can handle the heat. So, Willis has some big numbers to chase. But with so much pressure on the young QB, Packers HC has put all his faith in him! Matt LaFleur said, “I thought he did a great job in his three weeks, which feels like three months that he’s been here.” The head coach also emphasized how he is being prepared to go out on the field and play.

And that’s not enough! While the Green and Gold’s coach thinks Willis is awesome, here is what the Packs gang has to say. The team’s wide receiver and punt returner mentioned how impressed he is with the quarterback. Jayden Reed stated, “That he could spin it, that was just my first thought when I first saw him throw the ball.

With Malik Willis all set to play against the Colts, let’s see what the future holds for him. While everyone is expecting Jordan Love’s return, only the Packers know what’s happening behind the scenes!
