“The building was a little bit different with Tom in there. Obviously, playing-wise, Tom is different. He had everybody dialed in, high-strung environment, so I think everybody was pretty stressed out. … They wanted me to come in, be myself, bring the joy back to football, for guys who weren’t having as much fun.” Baker Mayfield took a playful jab at Tom Brady on his leadership quality last year, fuming many of TB12’s fans. However, he later clarified that the context was taken in a wrong way and that Brady has an unmatchable “aura.” Although the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’s QB is far away from Brady in many ways, this time he topped him with a new feat.
Tom Brady helped the Buccaneers to win Lombardi in 2021. However, despite being such a legendary player, he wasn’t able to achieve the feat in his 3 years, which Baker Mayfield did in two seasons. The 29-year-old was named to his second Pro Bowl on Tuesday. And with this, he now became the first QB to earn multiple Pro Bowl invitations in franchise history.
Hence, celebrating the same, Baker Mayfield shared a banner featuring him, Tristan Wirfs, Mike Evans, and Vita Vea – all named to the Pro Bowl of this year on Instagram. He captioned it, “Grateful to be back. Shoutout to my teammates & coaches for making it possible,” while expressing his feelings on the achievement.

Baker Mayfield completed 17 regular games with 407 out of 570 attempts for 4500 yards, 41 TDs, and 16 INTs. With 10 wins and 7 losses, he led the Buccaneers to the playoffs. However, Jayden Daniels’s Commanders stopped Mayfield and the team in the wildcard round.
Nevertheless, this time Mayfield made sure to replace Daniels in the NFC Pro Bowl 2025, surpassing Tom Brady.
Baker Mayfield is one up from Jayden Daniels?
Baker Mayfield’s season didn’t end the way he wanted, but he’s still heading to the Pro Bowl. And let us remind you, he’s replacing Commanders’ quarterback Jayden Daniels in this NFL honor. It’s because the rookie, who led his team to NFC after 33 years, has decided to not participate in the 2025 event.

For the Pro Bowl, fans, players, and coaches each hold an equal say, with their votes making up one-third of the final decision. This combined voting process determines which players make it to the all-star event. Jayden Daniels had over 242,000 votes in total, but he didn’t show up his interest in the NFC Pro Bowl roster. Hence, replacing him, Baker Mayfield joined his teammates in the honor.
No doubt, the Buccaneers’s quarterback knows this stage well. Last year, he won Offensive MVP and helped the NFC pull off a wild 64-59 win. Now, Baker Mayfield joins Jared Goff and Sam Darnold in the QB lineup. The 2025 Pro Bowl event will happen from January 30 to February 2, 2025, in Orlando, Florida.
