When people saw Patrick Mahomes in the Netflix documentary series ‘Quarterback’, they couldn’t wait for a spinoff. Fans were elated when they got to know that the star QB would feature in ‘Receiver’ and once again be involved as an executive producer. So it makes sense for his dear friend Travis Kelce to make an appearance too, right? Wrong!

The Chiefs’ tight end actually turned down the opportunity. In a candid moment on “Bussin’ With The Boys on June 25, Kelce shared his thoughts. “After Pat did it, I did get asked about it. I’m just, I don’t know. I’d rather just play ball, man. I’m already doing enough with the podcast and everything. I’m way over the reality sh*t, dude. I am out on that sh*t.”

However, the KCC player admires how his older brother, Jason Kelce, worked on his own documentary ‘Kelce’. It gave glimpses into his life- both on and off the field, shared his experiences through the 2022-23 NFL season, and even captured him contemplating one of his biggest decisions: Retirement.

Let’s not forget that Travis Kelce isn’t new to the idea of reality shows. Back in 2016, he appeared on a season-long dating show “Catching Kelce” which was canceled after only one season. But could it be that his interests simply changed? We ask this question because the TE actually landed a role in the upcoming horror drama ‘Grotesquerie’ by Ryan Murphy. This will mark his acting debut.

In fact, during the May 19 episode of ‘New Heights’, the younger Kelce brother stated, “It’s been so much fun… Ryan Murphy is [an] unbelievable writer, director, producer, all of the above, man. He’s just — there’s nothing he can’t do and everybody’s just been so helpful in making me feel comfortable.”

However, all of this leads to one question. If Travis Kelce is not a part of Mahomes’s ‘Receiver’, who will fans see in the documentary? Worry not, because it will feature some big names. The series boasts a Pro Bowl-worthy lineup, featuring Las Vegas Raiders’ Davante Adams, Minnesota Vikings’ Justin Jefferson, San Francisco 49ers’ Deebo Samuel, Detroit Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown, and 49ers’ tight end George Kittle.

Peyton Manning will also be a part of this project. His Omaha Productions and Mahomes’s 2PM Productions will join hands with NFL Films to create the documentary. Manning stated, “As we did with Quarterback, we look forward to telling the stories of five incredible receivers, each with their unique personality, skill set, and motivation for what drives them to be the best.”

This new project adds another feather to Mahomes’s hat as a businessman!

Nothing can stop the businessman in Patrick Mahomes!

Mahomes is demonstrating that he possesses great acumen as a producer that he does in the pocket. But the 28-year-old isn’t just focusing on the small screen. In a play that would make any offensive coordinator proud, 2 PM Productions recently announced a game-changing partnership with Texas Tech and Adidas.

The deal was unveiled in dramatic fashion, with Mahomes’ signature “Gladiator” logo taking center field at Texas Tech’s stadium. Meanwhile, the QB does not limit his efforts to the small screens alone when it comes to advertising. The partnership between 2 PM Production, Texas Tech, and Adidas may be called one of those plays that any Offensive Coordinator would dream of.

Revealing the meaning of his logo, Mahomes said back in 2022, “The gladiator mask in my logo represents the mindset of making an impact every single day. Whether it’s training in the gym, on-field practice or a game day. That’s always my mentality.”

This mentality seems to be carrying over into his off-field ventures. Gabe Spitzer, VP of Nonfiction Sports at Netflix, noted, “The natural progression is from a pass to a catch, so we’re excited to dive into the Receiver world after the success of our Quarterback series.”

However, while Travis Kelce decides to stick to what he is good at, he also has a couple of things going on for him. Will he continue to be Mahomes’ go-to guy on the diamond ring, even as he steps back from the spotlight?
