Aaron Rodgers possibly lost $3 million due to his views! It seems that 2023 had not been gracious to A-Rod. First, he lost his entire debut season with the New York Jets to an Achilles injury. And then his longest brand deal pulled the plug on him. What made the “good neighbor” turn its back on Aaron Rodgers?
Did the 4x NVL MVP lose its brand value after this debacle? Even more surprising is the fact that this comes when the company has stood by him through thick and thin. Recent happenings also suggest that it’s only going to get worse from here onwards.

It seemed that everything was normal during the NFL Playoffs 2023. A-Rod had been the brand endorser of the largest insurance company in the US for 12 long years. And in January, they aired a commercial featuring A-Rod. But little did people know that this would be the last time they saw the player and the company in one ad. The news of the end of their partnership did not even hit the mainstream media until August 2023. The breakup happened that quickly.
The two were almost the epitome of the relationship between an NFL player and a brand. They signed the deal in 2011. $3 million per year were to change hands every year. It was “one of the richest endorsements in the NFL at the time”, according to Forbes. He had just won his first MVP title, and of course, every brand wanted him. But State Farm clinched the title, and the relationship got sweeter for both parties. A-Rod went on to win three more titles and with it, his brand value kept soaring.
Unlike most other companies, State Farm was not a “fair-weather friend”. The $131.2 billion (2022) company had stuck with him even during his Covid controversy. But they ended the deal with a simple: “We wish Aaron the best in his future endeavors.”

Why did the deal go awry?
It seems the company had run out of patience with his controversial views. They also said that they “respected” Rodgers’ “personal point of view“. But did they really? Forbes surmised that the reason why the deal went awry was because of his fresh comments against the vaccine. In a newer episode of The Pat McAfee Show, he had made even more fiery comments.
“My medical team advised me that the dangers of…an adverse event [as a result of the vaccine] was greater than the risk of getting Covid and recovering,” Rodgers had said. He said the decision to not get vaccinated (which he eventually did) was in the best interests of his body. The QB further said that he is allergic to some of the chemicals in the vaccine by certain companies. He feared blot-clotting because of the vaccine of another company. And that seemed to be the final nail in the coffin.
