Can Breece Hall's comeback and bond with Aaron Rodgers turn the Jets into serious contenders this season?

The New York Jets have decided to let the bygones be bygones and march into the upcoming season with renewed hopes and confidence! Last season was a heartbreaking one for Gang Green as their projected messiah, Aaron Rodgers, suffered from a season-ending Achilles injury. However, with their star quarterback en route to recovery, the crew seems hopeful for the 2024 season.

The Jets have constructed a robust offense with A-Rod at the center. Combined with weapons like RB Breece Hall and WR Garrett Wilson, the offensive line seems promising. In what is hoped to be a delayed comeback for the franchise, the Jets are prepping for Rodgers’ return, especially Hall, who recently shared his plans for the upcoming season.

Breece Hall has set some high goals for himself stepping into the 2024 season. Earlier this year, he took to X to manifest becoming an All-Pro, Pro Bowl, and the top running back in the upcoming season. Continuing the confidence, the 23-year-old plans to be the “best friend” to Rodgers when it comes to football. In a conversation on the Up&Adams Show, the RB said, “It feels really good just knowing that I’m servicing him [Aaron Rodgers]. I’m going to be one of his best friends, just him coming off his injury. Me being the bell cow of the team, I’m going to be getting the ball the most.”

Hall further shared how he is trying to do what’s best for the Jets. While A-Rod is their leader, the running back also took on the responsibility of leading the offense. “For me, it’s just, I’m trying to put our team in the best position possible.” He continued, “And then, I want everybody to kind of follow. Obviously, we’re following Aaron’s lead, but I feel like everybody looks at me in the same aspect, if I’m the best playmaker on the team. So, our offense goes as I go.

Hall’s claims do hold weight. The running back is fresh off his 2022 ACL injury and led last season with 76 receptions, four touchdowns and 591 receiving yards. Moreover, HC Robert Saleh had vouched for the 23-year-old last month, backing his All-Pro hopes and appreciating his receiving skills. Even Rodgers himself had compared the RB to a former NFL RB legend and had some kind words to say about his running.

Last year, Hall trained with the Jets’ new quarterback for the first time. The running back had returned from his knee injury, but the practice was enough for him to catch the former Super Bowl champion’s eye. He reminded Rodgers of his former teammate, Ahman Green, who was a four-time Pro Bowl and retired from the league in 2011.

Now we had a guy in Green Bay who had a similar running style,” said Rodgers, as per JetsWire. “As far as he was super efficient, Ahman Green.” The former running back played with the Packers from 2000 to 2006 and came back for a second stint in 2009. A part of the franchise’s Hall of Fame, Green was known for his speed.

It’s this speed that Rodgers sees reflected in Hall. He explained, “When he [Ahman Green] was running, it didn’t look like he was going that fast, but no one could catch him. You watch Breece, and it might not look like he’s going that fast, but no one catches him.” The 2022 draft rookie was clocked at 4.39 for the 40-yard dash at the Combine, ranking sixth in his draft class. Hall couldn’t prove his potential fully in his rookie year, having suffered a knee injury. However, he made a comeback in the 2023 season, finishing fourth in scrimmage yards behind players like Christian McCaffrey, CeeDee Lamb, and Tyreek Hill.
