Joining the NFL offseason streak of giving back to the community is none other than the Philadelphia Eagles QB. Jalen Hurts made headlines recently as he donated $200,000 to facilitate air conditioning in 10 schools of the Philadelphia School District. The 2020 Draft announced at the Edward Gidgeon Elementary School in Northern Philadelphia.

The Eagles star’s effort comes as a welcome contribution to the area which had been facing school closures due to the high temperature in summers. Last year, the districts saw schools remaining shut for an entire week, as was the case in the June 2022. It also throws light on the lack of sufficient cooling facilities in schools, which becomes a prominent issue in months of severe summer heat.

Hurts is the highest-paid player in the league, having signed a five-year contract with an annual salary of $51 million. The 25-year-old’s move would definitely bring relief to the students of the Philadelphia School District. Apart from his philanthropic endeavors, the Eagles’ thrower has been prepping for his next season by getting to know his new teammate better.

Patrick Mahomes is not the only QB getting to know his new teammates! The Eagles star quarterback has also taken the initiative to make Barkley feel at home in Philadelphia. Already impressed with his talent, Hurts was all praises for the running back in a recent team press conference.

“I think he’s a hell of a player. He’s on this side now, so that’s cool.” The QB further talked about Barkley’s leadership qualities. “Even in the short time of us having OTAs, you hear about the type of person he is, the type of leader he is in the room, the energy he brings to the room. That’s something that you can appreciate.”
With the former New York Giants star already garnering positive reviews from the Eagles’ key players, the future seems bright for the RB in Philadelphia. The two-time Pro Bowl announced his decision to switch teams last month on X, with a simple message containing two eagle emojis. Even though Barkley faced some backlash for his move from fans and teammates alike, the Eagles have added a strong player to their squad. Barkley had 2,100 receiving yards, 47 touchdowns, and 288 receptions in his six years with the Giants.
