Odell Beckham Jr. had a poor season. He could only record 9 catches for 55 yards and 0 touchdowns in 9 games. And the outcome – mid-December, the Miami Dolphins announced that they were parting ways with the wide receiver. But now the question is: What’s next for OBJ?
Well, on December 27, Odell Beckham Jr. confirmed his job while writing a post on X for his fans. He wrote, “Who buddy wit the weak response or me? Lol cause can’t be me my “Job” is living and being a father.” With this statement, he is confidently dismissing any suggestion that he gave a weak response. He’s confident that such behavior doesn’t align with who he is.
He further added, “Ion never have to do nun I don’t wanna do in this life again papa… im put tf up by the choices and sacrifices I made in this life (with laughing emoji).” So, OBJ is sure what he wants next in his future. With this, he emphasized that his priorities are now focused on life and fatherhood rather than being defined solely by his professional career.

In addition, Odell Beckham Jr.’s statement also expressed his freedom and autonomy. Now he doesn’t feel obligated to do things he doesn’t want to anymore. Beckham reflected on the success and security he’s achieved through his decisions and sacrifices. In his confirmation, he is clear that he’s set for life because of the groundwork he’s laid. Now, to the people who are unaware – actually, this incident stemmed from OBJ’s Christmas post on social media.
On that December 25 post, he reflected on the pure joy and innocence he witnessed in his son on Christmas morning. In that X post, he narrated an incident where his son came to him and said, “daddy Santa brought presents!” Even his son’s opening the present with excitement made the player emotional. Hence, he decided to share this with the world, suggesting everyone to prioritize childlike-mindset. However, this beautiful note didn’t sit well with a social media user, who asked him, especially after OBJ’s exit from the Phins, “Think it’s time for a job lil bro.”
Now you know the reason why Odell Beckham Jr. came forward with a clear message of “job,” announcing his prioritizing life focused on himself and his family. But that doesn’t mean he has announced his retirement from the league. There are still some options left for the WR.
What options remain for Odell Beckham Jr.?
Odell Beckham Jr. was from the Dolphins. However, the Dolphins still owe him around $200k for this season after he signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the team in May. This means a claim wouldn’t cost any team much. But the question is, what are the landing spots left for him?
No doubt that Odell Beckham Jr.’s next move could shake up the NFL playoff picture. The first option is his previous team, Baltimore. Here the team is struggling after the fallout with Diontae Johnson, so with him, they could use a familiar face. The plus point is OBJ knows the Ravens’s system, and with the playoffs in sight, he might be the spark they need.

Then there are the Rams. He helped them win a Super Bowl in 2021. Could a reunion with Matthew Stafford and Sean McVay reignite their magic as they chase another ring? Or if not them, how about Pittsburgh? With George Pickens sidelined, they’re thin at receiver. Beckham stepping in could perhaps make the difference in a tight AFC North race. Who knows? And let’s not forget Kansas City. Patrick Mahomes, a chance at another Super Bowl, and a stacked offense – it’s hard to imagine a better stage for OBJ than this.
Nevertheless, wherever he lands, Odell Beckham Jr. will try to give his best after several derailments due to injuries and lack of form.
