Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs were supposed to be Buffalo’s dynamic duo, a unity destined to bring the Lombardi Trophy back to Bills powerful base. Alas! The possibility of that becoming a reality has been reduced to zero. The news of Diggs’ trade to Houston landed like a haymaker for Bills fans.

“This team has received as much hype, accolades, praise…as any of the cream of the crop franchises,” bemoaned Nick Wright on First Things First. Yet that deluge of expectation never translated to the scoreboard. As Wright lamented, “a quarter of the league got further.”

For a franchise that prides itself on a rabid fanbase and an aura of toughness, this shortcoming might probably sting. The “Bills Mafia” has faithfully packed raucous Highmark Stadium, turning each home tilt into an elemental ordeal for opponents. They ravenously scooped up Josh’s and Diggs’ jerseys, believing this was their crowning era. Unfortunately, the recent trade has shattered this notion.

Even though Wright criticized the QB-WR chemistry on the field, given how the energy they brought together failed to convert their momentum into Super Bowl victory, it is salient to look at their numbers together. Josh Allen who in first year had 169 completions for 2,074 passing yards and 10 passing TDs, soon witnessed the numbers skyrocket with Diggs entry.

Following Diggs move to the Bills, Allen accumulated for the past four seasons over 350 completions and over 4000 passing yards with more than 28 touchdowns each year. However, for the NFL analyst, the numbers have failed to solidify a spot in the Super Bowl and,“It’s now over and they have nothing to show for it.”

While these lines might have hurt the loyal supporters who bought into this era hook, line, and sinker, the once-unbreakable Allen-to-Diggs partnership has ultimately been separated to make way for more possibilities for the Bills. Meanwhile, Stefon Diggs has ‘Houston’ duties to cater to alongside another remarkable QB, CJ Stroud.

Houston, do you have liftoff? Texans rolling the dice with Stefon Diggs’ gambit

While dejection reigns in Buffalo, there’s a palpable buzz transported down I-90 to NRG Stadium. By acquiring the 30-year-old Diggs, the Texans are going all-in to arm sophomore stud C.J. Stroud with devastating weaponry.

Already boasting rising stars like Nico Collins and Tank Dell, Houston’s receiving corps now looks legitimately formidable. Diggs’ fiery on-field swagger could be the missing ingredient to put this unit over the top as a true “Air-Raid” force.

For an up-and-coming Texans squad, Diggs represents a calculated gamble. There’s no denying his elite talent and ability to tilt games. If he buys into DeMeco Ryans’ program and meshes with Stroud’s leadership, watch out. This move could quickly catapult Houston into the AFC’s upper echelon. On the other hand, chemistry issues could just as easily sabotage the entire operation before it gets going.
