The fans were shocked when it was revealed that TE Travis Kelce would not be stepping on the field in the last game of the regular season. With Kelce so close to being a historical landmark, many expected him to play. But in the end, he did not. And now, just days before the playoff clash, Kelce opened up on missing the record.

With a playoff berth secured and the game against the Los Angeles Chargers an inconsequential one, QB Patrick Mahomes was rested. But Kelce was just 16 yards short of getting eight consecutive seasons with 1000+ receiving yards. However, he could not reach the milestone, and let the fans know the reason behind it!

No other TE in the history of the NFL has gone more than 2 seasons with 1000+ receiving yards. Kelce showed the world his prowess by getting the accomplishment for 7 back-to-back seasons. But could not cement his legacy for the 8th one in a row.

However, the 34-year-old has no qualms about it. “It never felt right to go out there chasing stats”, said Kelce on his ‘New Heights’ podcast. “It had nothing to do with my health or whether I’d get injured”, said 2X Super Bowl winner.

The Miami Dolphins will be visiting the Arrowhead this Saturday for the Wild Card game against the Kansas City Chiefs. A blockbuster matchup, it will also feature one of Kelce’s former teammates. Tyreek Hill left the Chiefs after the Super Bowl win, last year.

The Dolphins possess one of the most menacing offenses in the league. However, the Chiefs did manage to beat them earlier in the season. As the Week 9 game in Frankfurt, Germany progressed, the defense marshaled Hill out of the game and the Chiefs won 21-14.
